A whisper leaked out of Arizona on Wednesday that Chicago Cubs' left-hander Ted Lilly underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Tuesday and isn't expected to return until April.

According to the Blackhawks on Twitter , Captain Jonathan Toews has returned to the ice for this afternoonÆs skate in Phoenix.

Reports out of Tampa late Tuesday afternoon are that the Rays have dealt second baseman Akinori Iwamura to the Pittsburgh Pirates. It is believed that the Rays will receive reliever Jesse Chavez in return, but the full details of the deal have not yet been released.

After Thursday morning’s skate, Chicago Blackhawks ' coach Joel Quenneville made a couple announcements regarding the lineup for the Hawks game in Nashville.
Captain Jonathan Toews, who did not travel with the team, is out for Thursday night and is doubtful for tomorrow night’s game against the Canadiens at the United Center as well. Brent Seabrook will play, though.

TSN is reporting that Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo has a fractured rib, and will miss at least a week.
Luongo joins Daniel Sedin, Pavol Demitra, and Sami Salo among the injured stars in Vancouver, who has struggled coming out of the gates this year (6-6-0, 12 pts, 4th place in the Northwest Division).
