I Hate To Say It, but the Bears Were Right Not To Trade for Brandon Marshall
Posted: 14th April 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
It pains me to write this article, because I have been the biggest proponent for the Chicago Bears to work a deal with the Denver Broncos for Brandon Marshall.
But, with news coming out today that the Broncos are dealing Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for two second round draft picks (one this year and one in 2011), I have to say that the Bears were smart not to work a ...
Why Do the Chicago Bears Want to Move Up In the 2010 NFL Draft?
Posted: 7th April 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
With news circulating that the Chicago Bears may try and trade up in the 2010 draft to sneak their way into the second round to obtain a safety, I started to wonder why.
Why for a safety?
The safety position is one of the easiest positions to find talent for these days. Maybe talent is the wrong word, so why don't we just say it's the easiest position to fill.
So many wide ...
This entire article may come off as me whining, but that's what happens during the NFL offseason for an NFL junkie like myself. So, in regards to your question, MNF, yes I am (that question being, "Are you ready for some football?" of course).
Hell, at this point I'd take the draft, and I'm not even a big fan of the NFL Draft. I'm just tired of reading seven different mock ...
Looking back at the 2009 NFL season, you realize just how great of a season it was.
My job was to present to you the 10 best games from the 2009 season, and I must say that with the litany of great games we were blessed with this season, it was a tough task to complete.
But, I got through it, did some research, dipped into my memory bank, and came up ...
2010 NFL Free Agency: Grading the Top 10 Signings (So Far)
Posted: 15th March 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
With NFL free agency in full swing, I thought I'd throw out a mini report card on the 10 biggest signings.
I'm only taking into consideration players that switched teams, because I look at players resigning with their teams as never having really been a free agent. Plus, it's easier to grade a signing when the player skips to another team.

Are the Chicago Bears Swinging for the Free Agency Fences?
Posted: 5th March 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
With news spreading that Julius Peppers is coming to Chicago to sign a contract with the Bears, it left me wondering why they had another scheduled visit with Chester Taylor after already signing Brandon Manumaleuna and Peppers visiting?
This isn't the Chicago Bears we have all come to know and, maybe, love.
They are never front runners to sign the league's biggest offseason free agent.
They are never the team that has multiple ...
With The 183rd Pick In the 2010 NFL Draft, The Chicago Bears Select…
Posted: 19th February 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
...Brian Jackson, CB, Oklahoma.
The thing I like best about Jackson is that he is a big, physical cornerback.á I am convinced he is the type of cornerback that can be drafted at that position and stay at that position, and not be transitioned into a safety (although that may not be a bad thing for the Bears, either).
He stands at 6'1" tall and weighs 203 lbs.á Teaming him with Peanut ...
With the 75th Pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears Select…

...Offensive Tackle Ciron Black, LSU.
Without having a pick in the first two rounds, the chances of getting an elite player are zero.
The chances of trading up to get a pick in the first two roundsáare slim to none seeing as the Bears don't have much to offer these days. And, even if they did trade away a player worthy of a first- or second-round draft pick, chances are it would ...
Lovie Smith To Be Retained As Head Coach: Why It’s a Better Move Than You Think
Posted: 5th January 2010 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
News out of Chicago Bears headquarters is that embattled head coach Lovie Smith is to be retained as the head coach for next season. The announcement will be made "official" at today's 2 p.m. press conference.
To tell the truth, I don't mind this move.
And the reason is because the news that came out also said he was told he would need to make changes to his coaching staff.
Hopefully, they meant ...
Jay Cutler: Diagnosing What’s Wrong with the Bears QB
Posted: 15th December 2009 by Scott Ottersen in NFL
At this point, all speculation is welcome.
Mine has no foundation.á
No scientific evidence.á
No doctor's expertise.
But, I have noticed something Cutler does that I have the same tendency to do, and if he is in the same situation I am in, then he may have comfort issues while playing.
If you watch him closely throughout the game, you will notice that he does this weird twitch with his right shoulder. He will do ...
