Sorry LeBron James, the Miami Dolphins Will Always Rule South Beach
Posted: 9th July 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
This isn't meant to be a diatribe against the Miami Heat or Lebron James. Such venom is apparently reserved for plenty of others. In fact I commend Pat Riley and the Miami Heat for putting together an unthinkable trio of talent.
However, there is one issue that should be cleared up for King James and his court– or is it Wade County and its municipalities?
Miami is the home of the National ...

The proceeds from the weekend and the Gilmore/Henne Community Fund will be used to improve recreational facilities around Berks County (Pennsylvania) and to provide scholarships for local high school students. Please visit www.bccf.org for more ...
Part Two: The 50 Most Significant Plays in Miami Dolphins History
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
I have to thank the readers for the feedback so far on the 50 most significant plays in Miami Dolphins history. There have been several good suggestions and even with only 10 plays being discussed so far, many Dolphins fans have identified with these moments–the good, the bad, and even the ugly.
Remember it’s the 50 most significant plays in the team's 40-year plus history, not the best or even most ...
Darrelle Revis Stunt Smacks Of Immaturity And Hurts The New York Jets
Posted: 15th June 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
It’s one thing for a player to sit out workouts, or team practices with dissatisfaction over his contract situation.
It's quite another for a player to fake an injury during practice and then admit it as a way to protest stalled contract talks.
Yet, that is actually what New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis did Monday.
Toward the end of the team's first practice, he told defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman his head ...
New York/New Jersey 2014 Super Bowl Is an All-Time Blunder
Posted: 25th May 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
Society has certainly seen its share of famous mistakes.
A few examples come to mind: The making of Bonfire of the Vanities into a movie, changing the recipe for Coca-Cola, Dan Quayle running for public office, cutting Michael Jordan from his high school basketball team, and Decca Records turning the Beatles down for a recording contract.
Well, now we can add New York/New Jersey hosting the Super Bowl at the New Meadowlands Stadium in ...
Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins: Slippery Slope Journalism Unfair To Both
Posted: 20th May 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
By now, the whole world (slight exaggeration) knows that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall had a routine surgical procedure on his right hip—which will keep him out of organized team activities until Training Camp.
Despite the Miami Dolphins' general policy of keeping such information private, local and national media dug and speculated until they had a story.
And one that far exceeded the boundaries of the initial news.
What spawned ...
Every year, the media identifies coaches on the hot seat; in other words, the coaches most likely to lose their jobs.
It's strange, but rarely is the term 'hot seat" applied to players. Furthermore, coaches are fired, yet players are released or traded. Regardless of the debate in semantics, players often don't live up to expectations and are down to their final chance to succeed.
Indeed, ...
SuperFly! Philadelphia Completes Miraculous Comeback Against Boston, 4-3
Posted: 14th May 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NHL
Well, it turns out that the Philadelphia Flyers are the team that you don't want to put down by three. Down three games to none, the Flyers became just the fourth team in professional sports history to respond by wining the next four games in the playoffs as they finished the task with a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins at Boston Garden. They advance to face the Eastern ...
The Pursuit of O.J. Atogwe: Are the Miami Dolphins Willing To Spend the Cash?
Posted: 11th May 2010 by Robert Hoffman in NFL
Even though NFL teams are prohibited from talking specifically about their interest in players under contract with other teams, there is no such rule restricting the media. Therefore, it's time to examine whether the Miami Dolphins have a significant interest in St. Louis Rams safety O.J. Atogwe.
Here is the background on Atogwe. He has reportedly (and expectedly) refused to sign a low $1.226 million tender for this upcoming season. St. ...
