Another One Bites the Dust: Mike Shanahan’s Curse on Denver (Circa 2006)
Posted: 19th April 2010 by Reid Brooks in NFL
Hey, you remember Greg Eslinger?
Unless you're Mike Shanahan, I'm 98.7 percent sure you have no idea who I am talking about.
That's fine, because he's probably the only pick from the 2006 Denver Broncos draft you haven't heard of.
If Mike Shanahan ever struck gold with a draft class, 2006 would have been it.
Aside from Eslinger, who certainly was an acceptable sixth-round failure, the weakest player from that class was Chris Kuper.
Chris ...
2010 NFL Draft: Is Ryan Matthews the Best Cure for Seattle’s Running Game?
Posted: 18th April 2010 by Reid Brooks in NFL
Despite the overwhelming depth of this year's draft in almost every position, it seems like one type of player is slowly disappearing from incoming NFL classes.
This year, most people have C.J. Spiller as the highest projected back in the draft.
The problem is that any team wanting to take him has to be willing to take his baggage. In my opinion, they'll get ten games a year out of him if ...
What Is Josh McDaniels Planning Now? Trades, Trade, and More Trades
Posted: 18th April 2010 by Reid Brooks in NFL
For Denver Broncos fans, the last two offseasons have been very active.
So far this year, the Denver brass has approved two major trades, effectively acquiring former first-round pick, quarterback Brady Quinn, for next-to-nothing, and getting substantial compensation for the franchise's brightest star in wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
It seems, however, that the wild moves may have just begun.
In a team press conference on Friday, Denver head coach Josh McDaniels seemed ...
LA vs. OKC for a Confused Fan: Picking Sides When Loyalties Collide

Growing up, I was never that much of a basketball fan.
That's probably because it was one of those sports I could never get good at no matter how hard I tried.
Like so many Midwestern, white kids... and more particularly middle-class kids from Oklahoma City, a future in basketball was not on my radar. So, I did what everyone else was doing; I joined a soccer team and then ended ...
First Round Disaster: The “Worst Case” Draft Scenario for Denver Broncos Fans
Posted: 17th April 2010 by Reid Brooks in NFL
There has been a lot of speculation about what the Broncos could do with the eleventh overall pick.
While most of the scenarios are plausible, and frankly, pretty good... at least one is absolutely, down-right bad for Denver.
Now before I go on, obviously something else crazy could happen—it is possible that Al Davis hacks into the Denver draft system and starts making selections for the Broncos. If that were to happen, ...
2010 Journeyman Update: Why Terrell Owens Remains Homeless
Posted: 16th April 2010 by Reid Brooks in NFL
Obviously he is getting older, and clearly he is shaving to hide a balding head (please tell me that isn't why he is unemployed; that could be bad news for me), but Terrell Owens has to still have some value.
I mean after all, he's T.O., right?
We're talking about the guy who invented the "drama queen" wide-receiver stereotype, and has, up until now, managed to discover a never ending line of ...
Right around this time last year, I plopped down on Steve's couch with a Chipotle Burrito on a Sunday afternoonáand said, "Mike Shanahan won't be around for too much longer."á
Whether or not I really believed it at the time, I felt like I should argue for the validity of the statement just on principle;áSteve, a lifelong Chargers fan, simply dropped his jaw and finally mustered up the courage to speak, ...
