The New York Mets Believe… Otherwise They’d Go with Youth
Posted: 23rd March 2010 by Onan Coca in MLB
Last week Josh Thole was reassigned to the Mets' minor league camp, and today Ike Davis joined him there. I expect that in the next week we will also see Fernando Martinez reassigned, and if Jose Reyes shows that he will be ready for Opening Day, Rueben Tejada will also be sent down. The biggest variable is Jenrry Mejia - Mejia is turning quite a few heads , the most ...
This is the second in a short series of articles on my 25 favorite Mets players as a one-team roster. You can find the first part of the series here . A cursory look at my favorite Mets "team" makes something very clearù I have a special affinity for Mets players of the mid to late 1980s.
Like most New YorkáMets fans in their late 20s to early 30s, the reason ...
Over the next couple of weeks or so, I plan to write up a full report on my all-time favorite Mets team. Pulling from players across generations, I plan to build a 25-man squad that, well, makes me happy. You'll notice the list is light on pre-1985 Mets which is mostly because I haven't been a fan of the team for much longer than that. Even learning the history of ...
Let's get excited for a New Year and some New Hope! So let's trim our Keith's mustache, get out Gary's wig, and say "Aloha" for Ron as we get set for another great year of Mets baseball!
This is my swing at the lineup for our 2010 Metsy's! I think that this lineup offers the Mets the best chance to provide some phenomenal offensive statistics in 2010! If ...
If there is a team that could be considered the polar opposite of the juggernaut-like Philadelphia Phillies that team would be the Washington Nationals . The Nationals are a team on the rise under GM Mike Rizzo, in his short tenure he has added the best defensive OF in the game and made some moves to prepare the Nationals for contention in the not-to-distant future. Washington Nationals SS: ...
Baseball is my passion, or as Nick Turturro says... "I breathe baseball!" For the last 25 years the focus of that passion has been the New York Mets. So this list is MY ALL-TIME lineup. These are the players that have been the objects of my man-crushes... the guys who have been the driving force behind this fan's highs.... and lows (oh, so many lows...).

Rafael Soriano Screws Atlanta Braves, Jose Valverde Saves Houston Astros Again
Posted: 8th December 2009 by Onan Coca in MLB
As expected, Rafael Soriano accepted arbitration from the Atlanta Braves today, which, while not destroying the Braves offseason, putsáa serious crimp in their plans.
Soriano has assured himself a nice payday for 2010 (about $8-10 million) and has made himself more attractive to other teams by making sure they won't have to give up draft picks for him.
The Braves, on the other hand, will not get the two draft picks Soriano ...
This is my definitive list for the All-Time greatest Astros at each position.
Spanning the length of the Astros time as a Major League organization, and wading through some of baseball's All-Time greats! My list features one player twice, and leaves off a Hall of Famer who some consider to be the greatest pitcher to ever take the mound. While there may be some who disagree with ...
Jose Valverde May Accept Arbitration with the Houston Astros (Ruh-Roh!)
Posted: 7th December 2009 by Onan Coca in MLB
News today from Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal states that Jose Valverde is leaning towards accepting arbitration from the Astros.
This news follows on the heels of reports that Rafael Soriano is also likely to accept arbitration from the Atlanta Braves.
Both the Astros and Braves offered arbitration to their respective closers in the hopes that they would receive draft picks as compensation for their signing elsewhere. Now, the news that both pitchers ...
Will the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals Find Common (Trade) Ground?
Posted: 7th December 2009 by Onan Coca in MLB
The Kansas City Royals are the current grist being ground in the rumor mill that is Major League Baseball's hot stove season.
I suppose it is a welcome change for the oft-maligned and hardly spoken of club, because as the saying goes, "any press is good press. "
For Mets fans, a more fitting saying might be "no news is good news, " as they cower in fear of the next Omar Minaya ...
