L.A. Kings FinishedùCanucks’ Roberto Luongo Steals the Game
Posted: 25th April 2010 by Nucks IceMan in NHL
Roberto Luongo saved his best game of the series for Game 6, kept the Canucks in it when they were outshot 26-11 after two periods, made so many highlight-reel saves (Smyth, Frolov, and Handzus) I couldn’t keep track of them, and allowed his team a chance to win.
Trailing once again as they had done so twice in this series, the 'Nucks drew off of the experience of the regular season ...
Yeah sure, after finishing one article that I will store away for the time being and then having to scramble to write another. This one though has a much happier ending.
What looked like a sure loss with the Penalty Kill giving up another two LA goals turned around in the third period and you watched the most dominant third period play of the series by the Nucks.
The best players rose to the occasion ...
Vancouver Canucks Playoffs: Game Three – No Penalty Kill nor Goaltending

I don’t need to see the rest of the game to write this article (4-1 LA), second period and I’m fuming.
I’m going to go out on a limb here, even though I called it in an article Will Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks Make the Grade?
This team will not win this series with the playoffs worst penalty kill team and Luongo playing goal. I don’t have to quote the ...
Here I was, going to question coach Vigneault for playing Steve Bernier on the power play instead of Alex Burrows, and he goes and scores the first goal.
Now, instead of going off the goal posts and not going in, Mikael Sameulsson’s shots are bouncing the right way, as he scores the second goal.
Ryan Kesler has more jump tonight and has himself two assists already. Another player that has been missing, ...
Sure, just when I need a good action shot from the game, they don't have any. So imagine it's the LA Kings uniform instead of Minnesota because this picture explains the great body checks.
Just exactly who was that playing in the No. 23 jersey for the Canucks last night? Could it have been Kevin Bieksa filtered into Alex Edler’s jersey?
This guy played defensive positional hockey like Nick Lidstrom and had ...
2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Vancouver Canucks Key Players

I wrote an article earlier in the season about this team, its talent, and that I thought it was the best team that has been assembled since the 1994 team.
Like that previous team it has a few lines that can score but I don’t feel this team’s defense is as tough physically as 1994's
So as the first playoff game draws near, it’s time to look at the key players ...
The hockey gods were smiling favourably on the Canucks this weekend, as the team that matches up the best, turned out to be the one the Canucks get to play and that’s the LA Kings.
No one out of the top eight was looking towards meeting the Detroit Red Wings, just the hottest team in the NHL since the Olympic break.
Nashville also was a team that the Canucks have struggled with ...
Vancouver Canucks: Goalie Controversy, Poor Penalty Kill, and Weak Defense?
Posted: 6th April 2010 by Nucks IceMan in NHL
It’s been far too quiet out there what with the Canucks locking up their third Northwest Division title in the last four seasons. And all you out there (and me included) were calling for coach Alain Vigneault’s head last season.
Goalie controversy—what controversy? Roberto Luongo is 12th in GA/G with a 2.63. Last season he finished in the seventh spot with a 2.60. Also, when was the last time that the ...
Having been away for a couple of weeks golfing in San Diego and Palm Springs, the only way to keep abreast of the Nucks was to listen on line, since no one carries much in the way of hockey telecasts. No wonder very few people watch it down south except the Canadians, just try and find it unless you have a satellite dish.
Not much has changed since I left, since ...
Since this topic has been milked to death, and a lot of comments came from it, this will be the last that I mention it this season. Well maybe for a while since there are playoffs coming up.
This term “greatness” has been bandied about in relation to Canucks Roberto Luongo’s goaltending performance since he arrived in Vancouver.
So let’s start out by expressing that Luongo, like every other NHL goaltender, is ...
