There seem to be a lot of quarterbacks available either through trade or free agency this offseason.
While the list doesn't include the likes of Brett Favre or even someone of comparable ilk, it does include a fair number of players who could have an impact on teams in 2010.
These are the top six quarterbacks either available or rumored to be available this year.Begin Slideshow
Pirates fans haven't been treated to much good baseball or many star players since former Pirate Sid Bream raced home to win the NLCS for the Atlanta Braves in 1992.
But 2010 could be different, even if the won/loss column does show the Pirates with an above-.500 record when everything is said and done.
There is plenty to like about this years team and plenty of reasons to watch the Pirates as ...
For anyone who enjoys watching young players develop and stars bloom in the majors, Pittsburgh is the place to be the next few years. An organization that seemed hell bent on losing and destroying talent for almost two decades now has something it has not had in many years.
Young talent...and lots of it.
From Low A to the Majors, the Pirates have young players worth watching.
Let's meet five of those ...
Pittsburgh Pirates: Patient Approach Should Begin to Pay Off
Posted: 5th March 2010 by Nick DeWitt in MLB
The Pittsburgh Pirates have been trying.
For 17 years, they've been trying to get back to the playoffs, the World Series, and even to respectable status in the sports world.
They've been trying, and they've been failing.
Whether or not it was a huge mistake for Bob Nutting to make his now infamous "dynasty" comment a few weeks ago is not as important as this question:
Could he be right?

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, a Quiet Approach Now Will Pay Dividends Later

For those of you hoping to wake up to news that the Steelers were close to acquiring Antonio Cromartie, Julius Peppers, Antrelle Rolle oráothers as they loaded up for a run at the Super Bowl, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
Cromartie is now with the Jets, Peppers will likely be in Chicago, and it's likely that Rolle will be rolling in money somewhere other than Pittsburgh.

Signing Ryan Clark, Drafting Help Are Pittsburgh Steelers’ Top Priorities

Disappointing seasons on the field often portend busy offseasons off it.
That's not exactly the case in Pittsburgh, where the Steelers have an already talented roster that simply failed to meet expectations in 2009 after winning Super Bowl XLIII.
Sure, there are needs and wants, but for the most part the Steelers are only retooling in small ways, hoping that they can win mostly with players already on the roster.
As always, the ...
Houston Astros: Fixing The Disaster With A Simple Plan

Disaster?
How about total, complete, utter failure?
That's the kind of season that could be in store for the 2010 Houston Astros. As a fan of two of the NL Central's most forlorn franchises, I can't help but think of one thing.
Neal Huntington's rebuilding strategy would work wonders in Houston.
I'm not saying Ed Wade should trade off Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, Roy Oswalt, and his other big-name players. Ok, well maybe I ...

Posted: 2nd January 2010 by Nick DeWitt in NFL
As we all settle in for what will possibly be the last hurrah for the reigning Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, it's time to start looking ahead.
The playoff hopes that the team and its fans are clinging to are slim, with the Steelers needing to win and then get help from several other teams to sneak in as the sixth seed.
Whether or not the Steelers pull off an improbable comeback ...
Steelers Offense Shines Bright Even As Playoff Hopes Dim
Posted: 9th December 2009 by Nick DeWitt in NFL
Even as their playoff hopes dim, the Pittsburgh Steelers have to be excited about their offensive performance this season.
What began as a season with many questions has reached the final turn with most of those queries answered.
Let's break down some of those questions and answers on the eve of Pittsburgh's important matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

Entering the 2009 season, one of the biggest and most asked questions surrounding Pittsburgh's ...
There are two schools of thought going into Thursday's game against the 1-11 Cleveland Browns.
The first school feels grateful that the Browns have no marquee receivers for the Steelers' struggling defensive backs to cover.
The second school fears that the Browns will become the latest bottom-feeding NFL team to claim victory over the Steelers, channeling the success of similarly awful Kansas City and Oakland.
Which school is right will be discovered when ...
