Eric Mangini Overseeing an Abysmal Mess in Cleveland
Posted: 23rd September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
Okay, I'm finally done with my so-called day job deadline so I can now truly reflect on the abysmal mess that head coach Eric Mangini has created with the once-proud Cleveland Browns.
Ironically, the imposters, the mismatched retreads, and rookies we call the New Browns are going to Baltimore to play The Real Browns, now called the Ravens.
But being from Cleveland, I’ll watch the game with my eyes partially closed, amidst ...
The Cleveland Indians, a choice by many including myself to rebound into 2007 form, and make this year’s postseason, fell into last place earlier this week. Yes, they now stand a game and a half behind the Kansas City Royals, who, like last September, have played good ball the final few weeks. Since Labor Day, the Royals are 12-3, while Cleveland is a pitiful 1-13, losing nine in a ...
Martin Havlat Nets Two Goals Against Chicago Blackhawks
Posted: 22nd September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NHL
Pre-season hockey for the Hawks started last weekend, and a match up against the Minnesota Wild seemed, to me, to be a pre-season game worth watching.
Why, you might ask?
Well this off-season the Hawks told their fans that they had interest in re-signing forward, and points leader for the team, Martin Havlat.
Havlat said he would love to stay in Chicago, and that Chicago was the only place he wanted to be.
As ...
Marion Barber Injury Update: Pulled Leg Muscle, Left Game
Posted: 20th September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
Marion Barber left tonight’s Cowboys-Giants game with what appeared to be a pulled leg muscle.
After getting behind the Giants’ D and appearing poised to scamper all the way to the end zone, Barber pulled up and eventually tumbled over about 10 yards shy of the end zone. It was apparent from the replay that Barber pulled a muscle in his leg.
Felix Jones ultimately scored a TD on the drive, but ...
ôBeing a Browns Fan is How it Feels to be Dead Insideö

I’m glad I waited a couple of hours after watching the Browns game to post anything.
Had I sat down at my computer and started typing immediately after returning home from hanging out at the Dallas area Browns Backers, I might have just typed a whole bunch of expletives and hit publish.
As it is, even with the perspective of a couple hours, I don’t know what to say.
The Browns were absolutely ...
Detroit Lions Leading Minnesota Vikings 10-0 in 2nd Quarter
Posted: 20th September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
Wow. Consider me shocked.
A few people (including Peter King) were predicting that the Lions could beat the Vikings this weekend and snap their 18-game losing streak. After watching Adrian Peterson carve up the Browns in the second half last week, and Drew Brees throw for 6 TDs against the Lions, I wasn’t buying it.
So far, so good for Detroit.
Rookie QB Matt Stafford just threw a TD pass to Calvin Johnson, ...
Jets-Patriots Preview and Prediction: Can Ryan/Sanchez Beat Belichick/Brady?
Posted: 18th September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
The last time the New England Patriots lost at Giants Stadium when playing against the New York Jets was when Vinny Testaverde, Wayne Chrebet, and Curtis Martin were suiting up for the green and white.
Nine years have passed since that dreadful 20-19 defeat on September 11th 2000, and the New York Jets are anxious, eager, and willing to do whatever it takes in their home opener to embarrass the Patriots ...
Browns-Broncos Preview, Analysis, and Prediction
Posted: 18th September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
All things considered, it was perhaps the most disappointing game of Browns’ 2008 season.
After opening the season 0-3, Cleveland battled back to win three out of its next five games, ultimately sitting at 3-5 as they prepared to take on the Denver Broncos at home on Thursday Night Football.
Leading 23-10 early in the third quarter, it appeared that the Browns would improve their record to 4-5 and salvage some semblance ...

Sunday Night Football: Giants-Cowboys Preview and Prediction
Posted: 16th September 2009 by Midwest Sports Fans in NFL
If the New York Giants are going to spoil the regular season christening of Dallas’ new billion-dollar stadium, then Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw must bring their A-game.
Both teams won last week’s season opener, but the Cowboys were gashed by Tampa Bay on the ground for 174 yards in the 34-21 victory. Carnell “Cadillac” Williams picked up 97 yards on only 13 carries while Derrick Ward gained another 62 yards ...
