NFL Owners Seek An “Enhanced” Season In Spite Of Player Concerns
Posted: 22nd June 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
Last Wednesday, the NFL formally presented a proposal for an 18-game, "enhanced" NFL season.
The new season would not be any longer than the current season. The two games would not be added, but instead transferred from the preseason, which would be shortened to two games.
The idea, as presented, would subtract two meaningless games from the current 20-game schedule, adding two meaningful games in the process.
The only motivation driving this ...
Jammal Brown Traded To Washington Redskins, 24K Talent Or Fools’ Gold?
Posted: 19th June 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
Saturday afternoon, the Washington Redsksins completed a trade with the New Orleans Saints for former Pro Bowl left tackle, Jammal Brown.
The Redskins sent a conditional draft pick, contingent on the pick they need to send to Philadelphia in the Donovan McNabb trade.
If the Eagles gets a third rounder because McNabb plays well, the Saints get the Redskins' fourth rounder, and vice versa if McNabb plays poorly.
Initial reaction: The Redskins don't ...
World Cup Kitties: The Detroit Lions in a Soccer Switch
Posted: 18th June 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
With World Cup fever hitting the United States like a calm summer's breeze, it seemed fitting that someone took America's favorite punchline and our favorite squad, the Detroit Lions, and put them on the soccer pitch.
It just makes sense.
The Lions newest superstar, Ndamukong Suh, got most of his athletic training at a young age playing soccer and still roots hard for the Cameroon Lions to this very day. ...
Peyton Manning A Refreshing Example of A Player Actually Earning His Pay

Whatever Peyton Manning wants, he should get.
He has certainly done everything to earn it.
This isn't a fan article, melting over a local hero. This isn't a beat reporter fawning over a quarterback who finally answered one of his questions. This isn't a national columnist who texts daily with NFL superstars—blurring the line of journalistic integrity.
This is a frank look from an unbiased observer who appreciates good quarterbacking.
Not to mention patience...
Peyton ...
The Detroit Lions had a great draft.
If.
"If" is the most important word about the Detroit Lions draft. "If" is a word that defines the draft of lots of teams, but none more than the 2010 Detroit Lions.
Not that Ndamukong Suh is an "if" type of project; he is considered a lock. Until that is proven wrong conclusively, let's all have another sip of Kool-Aid.
Amari Spievey was ...
2010 NFL Mock Draft Final Edition: Where Do Tebow and Clausen Land?
Posted: 17th April 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
The two biggest storylines in the 2010 NFL Draft are a certain left-handed quarterback from Florida and his counterpart from South Bend. If the draft goes as many have planned, Clausen could go in the top 15, while Tebow would go in the second round.
But, it only takes one GM to have a difference of opinion and shake things up.
It only takes one GM to make a "crazy" trade, and ...
NFL Labor: Bob McNair’s Words Ring Hollow while NFL Books Still Closed
Posted: 14th April 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
According to Houston Texans' owner Bob McNair, the NFL needs a bailout, and NFL teams are running out of money.
When asked why teams were not spending on free agents, McNair replied, "Most teams are stressed economically and do not have the money."
In today's economy, this is a believable statement, even coming from one of America's richest men.
Bob McNair was wealthy long before the Houston Texans—electricity, real estate, and biotechnology ...

WalterFootball.com has placed themselves firmly in the second camp with an article making the rounds on the Detroit Lions' blogs and message boards. Although it is a persuasive article, and has confirmed the already-held beliefs of many, ...

Albert Haynesworth Interested in Detroit, Lions May be Interested Too
Posted: 6th April 2010 by Michael Schottey in NFL
Albert Haynesworth is available once again.
Last time, Haynesworth was interested in heading to the Detroit Lions.
This time, Detroit may be just as interested.
After the trade between Philadelphia and Washington for Donovan McNabb, it was reported that Washington had tried to include Haynesworth in the deal and Philadelphia would not take on the disgruntled defensive tackle.
Then, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reported that the Redskins would like to move Haynesworth ...
