Start and Sit Week Seven: Brett Favre at Pittsburgh? Thanks, but No Thanks
Posted: 22nd October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Pittsburgh's defense has had its share of trouble with offensesùparticularly passing offensesùin the second half of games this year. Enter Brett Favre and the Vikings' suddenly high-flying passing attack.
And I want absolutely nothing to do with Favre this weekend.
Look, I love the guy. Few football fans were as happy as I when he decided to come back from retirementùagainùand play this season. And he is playing so well for the ...
In Preparation for the Fantasy Playoff Push, Target Handcuffs Now
Posted: 22nd October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
A popular draft strategy employed by many fantasy owners is to handcuff stud running backs with their heir-apparents.
Not one of those owners?
Join the club.
While some owners made a point to pair the likes of LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles or Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy during fantasy drafts this summer, others decided it best to utilize a different drafting technique altogether. There are pros and cons to each approach, ...
Giants WR Hakeem Nicks Is Catching Up in the Rookie Ranks

Heads up fellow Michael Crabtree enthusiasts: He is getting his first start for the 49ers after a whole two weeks of practice. Do not be surprised if Crabtree impresses in his first opportunity against the weak secondary of the Texans.
There are other rookies that have been working hard to contribute to their teams, but a few did drop in the rankings this week due to disappointing performances.

1. Knowshon Moreno, ...
Fantasy owners plugging the gap in lineups left by 49ers' running back Frank Gore back in week three should get some relief this weekend.
Gore, after two solid fantasy performances to start the season, will return to the starting lineup this weekend for the first time since injuring his ankle very early against the Vikings back in week three . The injury happened so early in that game, in fact, that ...
The starting roster scramble is about to begin in earnest for fantasy football owners.
With more teams observing bye weeks of the 2009 NFL regular season this weekend, fantasy owners will spend precious team management time plugging holes in rosters left by idle players .
Complicating matters for several owners are injuries to both starting fantasy players and those on the bench. Those in an extreme pinch will need to seek salvation ...
Week 7 Waiver Wire Adds: Saints’ Lance Moore Is Back to His Offensive Fireworks
Posted: 20th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Hopefully everybody's fantasy football weekend was the opposite of mine. I went 0-for-2 and got knocked out of a survival pick 'em league (Philly over Oakland, Doh!).
But tomorrow is always a new day and a bounce back in both of my leagues is imminent.
To help solidify fantasy owners' return to the top of the standings, here are a few free agents worth picking up this week.

Sidney Rice (WR, Minnesota Vikings) ...
The 49ers are not wasting any time with Michael Crabtree.
The first-round pick -- last to sign among his class -- is slated to start for San Francisco this weekend at Houston . As far as first starts go, the Texans' secondary should provide an easier-than-most transition to the NFL game for Crabtree.
That is not to say fantasy owners should start him this weekend by any means.
However, it is intriguing how ...
Monday Morning Rehab: Is Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson Injured?
Posted: 19th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Not sure the infirmary has enough beds for all the players checking in with injuries after a bruising Week Six in the NFL.
Among the names checking in this morning is Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson. ADP suffered an ankle injury late in yesterday's thrilling win against Baltimore that sent him limping off the field.
Chester Taylor is the appropriate handcuff here.
A few other notes from the weekend that was:
*If last week ...
Fantasy owners were paced by a few gigantic efforts from wide receivers last weekend. And again this weekend, a few receiversùRandy Moss, Wes Welker, Marques Colston to name a fewùhad big weekends.
But the quarterbacks of the league stole the show yesterday.
Owners of Tom Brady, Matt Schaub and Drew Brees all should be in positions to win this week, likely by large margins. Hopefully you drew a good match-up this weekend ...
Re-Examining the Marshawn Lynch-Fred Jackson Timeshare
Posted: 14th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
When Marshawn Lynch's NFL-mandated three-game suspension was lifted a few weeks ago, those fantasy owners riding the Fred Jackson train had to step off to watch the situation in Buffalo's backfield materialize.
So after two weeks of the Lynch-Jackson timeshare, how much do we really know?
First off, we know the Buffalo Bills' offense is a sinking ship. It looked like the Bills were for real in week one during a near-upset ...
