Posted: 5th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
The starting roster scramble is about to begin in earnest for fantasy football owners.
With more teams observing bye weeks of the 2009 NFL regular season this weekend, fantasy owners will spend precious team management time plugging holes in rosters left by idle players .
Complicating matters for several owners are injuries to both starting fantasy players and those on the bench. Those in an extreme pinch will need to seek salvation ...
Daily Haze: Eagles’ Brian Westbrook Cleared to Play
Posted: 5th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
It is Dallas week in Philadelphia, and all hands are on deck.
After missing last weekend's game because of a head injury he suffered two weeks ago, Brian Westbrook has been cleared to play by the Eagles medical staff for this weekend's game against the Cowboys. LeSean McCoy started in Westbrook's stead last weekend.
Both Westbrook and McCoy should get a fair amount of work this weekend. Westy will resume the starting ...
Daily Haze: Finding a Replacement for Owen Daniels
Posted: 3rd November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Yesterday morning is was speculated that Houston tight end Owen Daniels would miss the rest of the 2009 season with a knee injury. And yesterday afternoon, it was confirmed.
Daniels tore his ACL on Sunday at Buffalo early in the first quarter. It could be a devastating loss for the upstart Texans, and will be one for Daniels' fantasy owners.
Despite missing most of the game on Sunday, Daniels remains the top-scoring ...
Monday Morning Rehab: Owen Daniels Likely Lost for the Season
Posted: 2nd November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Two weeks, two season-ending injuries (potentially).
The flood gates have been opened.
Fantasy owners might have lost one of this season's best players at his position yesterday in Houston tight end Owen Daniels. Daniels went down in the first quarter with a knee injury that could be a season-ender. More on that below.
First, a little fantasy lagniappe from this weekend:
*Miles Austin is no fantasy mirage . He is, what you would call, ...
Daily Haze: Larry Johnson, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson…Oh My!

In this week's episode of the Johnsons, two Johnsons are trying to recover from injuries while the third Johnson is being disciplined for bad behavior. All three Johnsons are in high demand. Do not fret, fantasy owners, there are more than enough Johnsons to go around!
OK, enough with the silly Johnson jokes. Updates on three of your favorite Johnsons (last one, I swear!) below:
á
Larry Johnson, RB, Chiefs
LJ has been formally ...
Daily Haze: Buh-Bye Larry Johnson, Hello Jamaal Charles
Posted: 28th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Larry Johnson was not really winning fantasy owners over so far this season. So he decided to go all next level on the football public.
Frustrated with the Chiefs poor start, Johnson's acrimony boiled over onto everyone's current favorite sounding board: Twitter. He called out head coach Todd Haley and maintained Internet fights (the best kind) with other Twitterers (Tweeters?).
And if that was not in poor taste enough, Johnson went after ...
Daily Haze: Updating Andre Johnson’s Chest Injury
Posted: 27th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Injury updates two days in a row? That is when you know things are getting hairy in fantasy football.
The worst injury across the wire yesterday may have been Leon WashingtonÆs season-ending broken leg , but the injury generating the most unrest among the fantasy public was that suffered to Andre Johnson in week 7.
Johnson left the game with a chest injury and headed for the hospital. News outlets were reporting ...
We are halfway through most fantasy leagues' regular seasons, and the time is now to make your move to grab that illustrious playoff spot.
Of course, with new guys stepping up in place of injured players, the waiver wire is a great place to look to find the missing piece, or pieces, for your championship run. Here are some guys worth grabbing in all leagues:
á
Shonn Greene [RB, New York Jets]
Greene had ...
Monday Morning Rehab: Andre Johnson Injures Chest
Posted: 26th October 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Well it finally happened.
I guess I kind of egged on the season-ending injury by talking about it all these weeks and it finally joined the party. More on that below.
But first, a little fantasy football lagniappe from Week Seven:
*Sure, Brett Favre had a lot of yards and completions. But he failed to be a good start for fantasy purposes because of these numbers: ero touchdowns, two turnovers.á No one gets ...
Matt Cassel Looking to Turn the Corner for Fantasy Owners

Sleeper picks are getting tougher to find. I have a few ideas at the skill positions that could lend your team a hand if you have a player injured or on a bye.
But first, how did we do last week?
Last week's sleeper picks : Kyle Orton: 229 yards, 2 touchdowns Jonathan Stewart: 17 carries, 110 yards, 1 touchdown Donnie Avery: 1 catch, 17 yards, 1 touchdown Brandon Pettigrew: ...
