Week 11 Waiver Wire Adds

Posted: 16th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Vindication, thy name is the waiver wire! Hopefully our advice was heeded last week and you added Ladell Betts or Jamaal Charles to your roster.á Both guys finished the day with more than 100 yards rushing and one touchdown.á Not too bad for a plug-and-play in my opinion. There was a myriad of injuries this past weekend , so no doubt people will be scrambling to lock up players on the waiver ...

Percy Harvin Surges to the Top of the Rookie Rankings

Posted: 13th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
You know it is a down year when the rookie rankings are headed up by a guy who did not even play last weekend. Sure, this yearÆs class has had its moments. Mark Sanchez looked like like a star at the start of the year. Knowshon Moreno took the reins in Denver. But mostly, it has been a relative disappoint for this seasonÆs rookies from a fantasy standpoint. Perhaps Michael Crabtree can ...

Posted: 13th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Last week it was Kurt Warner and Brandon Jacobs due for a fantasy turn-around. This time, it is Aaron Rodgers' turn. After throwing three interceptions and losing on the road in Tampa Bay, Rodgers and the Packers return home this weekend to face the Dallas Cowboys. Now it still is about midseason in the NFL, but if ever there was a "must win" game this is it for the Packers. The loss ...

The starting roster scramble is about to begin in earnest for fantasy football owners. With more teams observing bye weeks of the 2009 NFL regular season this weekend, fantasy owners will spend precious team management time plugging holes in rosters left by idle players . Complicating matters for several owners are injuries to both starting fantasy players and those on the bench. Those in an extreme pinch will need to seek salvation ...

Daily Haze: Brandon Jacobs V. Ahmad Bradshaw

Posted: 11th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Perhaps I overlooked one other emerging running-back-by-committee last week, because clearly Ahmad Bradshaw has worked his way into a significant portion of the GiantsÆ running game. In SundayÆs loss to the Chargers, Bradshaw carried the ball 14 times to lead all Giants running backs in carries. Jacobs carried 11 times while third-string running back Danny Ware received two carries. In total, Bradshaw received 17 touches to JacobsÆ 12. Those numbers should be ...

Week 10 Waiver Wire Adds

Who Dat!?! I would be remiss if I did not mention that the New Orleans Saints improved to 8-0ùa franchise firstùyesterday afternoon.á Much like the Saints, I was able to taste the sweet nectar of fantasy football victory.á After struggling most of the season, my team finally has a record better than .500 and, more importantly, I am in great position to make the playoffs. If your team was not so lucky ...

Daily Haze: Larry Johnson out, Jamaal Charles in for Kansas City

Posted: 10th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
After a flurry of off-the-field extracurricular activity got Larry Johnson suspended a few weeks ago, the Chiefs formally cut ties with the once-dominating running back yesterday. Thanks for the memories, LJ. I never owned Johnson in a competitive league as far as I can remember, but do have a fond memory of him due to his dominating stretch run of the 2004 season. Johnson got the call to start following a Priest ...

Monday-Morning Rehab: Clinton Portis Gets Knocked Out

Injuries and bye weeks continue to ravage fantasy rosters. Luckily for fantasy owners, one of those two ends next weekend. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, it is not the injuries. With only one more bye week on the docket for the 2009 season, fantasy owners are right around the corner from the 2009 fantasy playoffs. This week also marks the trade deadline in many fantasy leagues, so this could be your last opportunity ...

6 Small(er) Fantasy Names to Buy

Posted: 5th November 2009 by Michael McNeil in NFL
Fantasy owners know who these guys are at this point. But when it comes to name recognition, these players did not necessarily have it in terms of fantasy football before the start of this season. Names like LaDainian Tomlinson, Matt Forte, and Brian Westbrook jump off the pages of fantasy football magazines. Before the start of the 2009 season, Steve Smith of the Giants was known only as the other Steve ...
