With the regular season about to jump into high gear, the Buffalo Sabres will have a lot on their plate from now until the end of the regular season.
But before I go any further, let me say that I am very happy to be back writing for my loyal SabresÆcommunity. Writing for the Winter Olympics was a lot fun and I got a lot of coverage, but now I ...
The NHL trade deadline approachesùeveryone panic!
But before you all start getting angry at your GM for trading away your teamÆs best playerùtoo late Atlantaùor because he didnÆt make that deadline deal that surely would have clinched your team the Cup, letÆs take one last look at the Olympics and see which players made my All-Olympic Team.

The Winter Olympics have come and gone, and the NHL trade deadline is quickly approaching, but before all of the speculating starts, let's have a look back at the Olympics.
And for the record, curling is still my second favorite sportùalthough, I won't lie, I did question things a couple of times.Begin Slideshow
Yesterday, The Gatorade Company and FOX Sports Net announced the second season of the successful, original program REPLAY the Series. The series re-stages classic games between some of the nationÆs biggest high school sports rivalries.
In its second season, REPLAY will reunite two high school hockey powerhouses from Detroitùthe Trenton Trojans and the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocksùwho were unable to finish their second match up of the 1999 season after a ...
2010 Olympic Hockey: Canada vs. Russia Is More Than Just a Game

The Canadian and Russian menÆs hockey teams were the top-two ranked teams by many critics heading into the Winter Olympics. But after the preliminary round, one thing is certain: Only one country will have the opportunity to take home a medal.
If Canada loses, expect a full-scale riot throughout the country that will have more than just Toronto Maple LeafsÆforward Mikhail Grabovski being arrested (the forward was arrested for a ...

With the Olympics in full swing, there isn’t much news from the Buffalo Sabres—but that isn’t going to stop me from writing about them.
It’s been a while since I’ve made some bold predictions—so I am going to attempt to predict exactly where the Sabres will finish in the Eastern Conference and what their record will be at the end of the regular season.
Currently, the Sabres are 33-18-9 and are seeded ...
Olympic Hockey: Five Reasons Why Canada Will Beat the United States

I like starting each of my articles with a small observation IÆve picked up while watching the Olympics. TodayÆs observation will focus on womenÆs hockey.
I would rather watch the pee-wee hockey ôgameö in between periods at Madison Square Garden than watch a womenÆs Olympic hockey game. At least the little ôpee-weesö are kind of adorable when they are falling all over the place and not scoring.
I am not being sexist, ...
Buffalo Sabres and Shootouts: Things That Don’t Mix…For the Moment
Posted: 18th February 2010 by Matthew Hogan in NHL
There was a time when the Buffalo Sabres were almost automatic in the shootout. Daniel Briere would pull off some amazing deke and scoreùand even if he missed Ales Kotalik and Thomas Vanek were there to pick up the pieces.
But Briere has moved onto bigger and more expensive places, Ales Kotalik has begun to travel from team-to-team, and Vanek, well, he doesnÆt participate in the shootout anymoreùat least not regularly.
Drew ...
Let me start by saying that, after today, I am a curling fanatic. Can anyone else believe the ending to the United StatesùJapan womenÆs match? Yes, I really watched it. But before you judge me any further, letÆs move on to hockey.
The United StatesÆmenÆs hockey team started group play with a 3-1 win over Switzerland, but it wasnÆt pretty and could be a sign of things to come.
The U.S. ...
Five Olympic Hockey Players with the Most Pressure On Their Shoulders

Before I start, I saw a poll on ESPN.com that asked, ôAre goaltenders who participate in the Olympics putting themselves at a disadvantage for the NHLÆs regular season?
40 percent said ôyes,ö and you can guess what the other 60 percent said.
I just found it funny because about 40 percent of the goalies in the NHLùthatÆs not an exact percentageùare headed to the Olympics. So I think you can guess which ...
