Losers or Winners: Pups Are Growing and Getting Better
Posted: 2nd November 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
(Jonny Flynn is wondering what flew into his mouth and bit his tongue...)
I know, I know, the title speaks for itself, and yet contradicts itself as well.
The Timberwolves finished with a record of 24-58 in the 2008-2009 season. Al Jefferson was inactive for 32 games in which the Wolves went 7-25.
The Wolves opened this season with a thrilling comeback victory over the New Jersey Nets, then suffered losses at the ...
What To Expect: Preseason Says Minnesota Wolves Will Be Competitive
Posted: 25th October 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
The Timberwolves had an okay preseason, already plagued with injuries to key players. Those key players were Al Jefferson, Kevin Love and Wayne Ellington. Oleksiy Pecherov also had an injury, but despite the fact that the Wolves lost two of their best players, they finished the preseason with a 3-5 record.
While Al Jefferson will be ready to go in the regular season opener, it gave other players to step up, ...
Confidence Is Brewing: Corey Brewer’s Interview Speaks Volumes
Posted: 22nd October 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
A two time NCAA champion, and NCAA Most Outstanding Player award winner, has finally made it.
Compared to complete disparity in his first first seasons, Corey Brewer turns in another great performance as the go-to guy on the offense, showing that he can make and take smart shots.
"We were prepared tonightùwe had to learn how to play without the big guys,'' Brewer said. "Tonight, we knew we couldn't just throw it ...
When Kobe Bryant Retires, Kevin Durant Will Be LeBron James’ Rival
Posted: 22nd October 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
You can make an argument that all the greats have had rivals or an enemy, if you will, in any sport, show, or type of modern media.
In the world of basketball, rivalries between megastars are never personal, yet are always the most intense.
Michael Jordan was the greatest of all time, therefore it's only right to say that everyone that he stripped a ring from was Michael Jordan's enemy on the ...
I've done one of these before, and with our new roster, I'd like to do it again, and get the Timberwolves community back involved.
This is for fun, and it's also going to add some prediction to the roster. First, we have to decide on the starting roster, and judging from the preseason, it's going to be like this:
PG- Jonny Flynn
SG- Corey Brewer
SF- Ryan Gomes
PF- Kevin Love
C- Al Jefferson
David Stern: The ...
Kevin Love Versus Al Jefferson? Who’s The Alpha Wolf?
Posted: 5th October 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
Many people have said that Al Jefferson and Kevin Love have the potential to be a top five frontcourt in the NBA, but with both of them having different skill sets, one would have to wonder "who's better"?
Of course, Al Jefferson is a better scorer than Kevin Love, but it's slowly appearing that Kevin Love is slowly closing the gap on Al Jefferson.
Please consider:
Third in Rebounds per 40
Second in Offensive ...

Charisma and Leadership: Jonny Flynn, the Face of the Minnesota Franchise
Posted: 23rd September 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
Jonny Flynn was drafted with the 6th pick overall in the 2009 NBA draft. I know this will come as a shocker, but Jonny Flynn has become the leader, emotionally and possibly physically of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This would result in Jonny Flynn becoming the face of the franchise, and he's poised to do that just because of his personality, charisma and skill set.
When it comes to personality, Jonny Flynn ...
Moving on Up: Minnesota’s Al Jefferson is Back and Determined to be a Hit
Posted: 18th September 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
There comes a time in everyone's life when they realize they know what they are going to be.
Al Jefferson is arguably the NBA's most skilled power forward, using quickness, drop steps, post moves, strength and agility to break down the opposition limb for limb in the same way a Samurai slices and dices.
At 6'10'', Jefferson is one of the NBA's young and upcoming All-Stars. Last season he averaged 23 points ...
Can Sasha Pavlovic Start At SG For The Minnesota Timberwolves?
Posted: 17th September 2009 by Matthew Hayden in NBA
Yes, once again I am here to offer an evaluation on the Minnesota Timberwolves newest wolf Sasha Pavlovic.
On the Wolves roster, we currently have Corey Brewer and Wayne Ellington as the wings. While Corey Brewer is a stud, he's currently coming off an injury, and Wayne Ellington is a pure off-guard that's coming into his first NBA season.
Now we add Sasha Pavlovic, a SG/SF who is 6-foot-8 (good size for ...
