Gilbert Arenas Likely Done For the Year
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting from unspecified sources that Gilbert Arenas is likely done for the season "at the very least."
Arenas making a mockery of his situation with teammate Javaris Crittenton has apparently infuriated NBA commish David Stern, and the point guard's prospects for playing anytime soon are getting worse by the day.

That's why, instead of merely assessing each team's standing in the rankings for the final Power Rankings of the season, this writer is looking back to Week One, both to judge the teams that failed us, as well as the writer's original thoughts on the team.

10 Bold 2009 NFL Predictions: Turning Back the Clock
Posted: 7th January 2010 by kevin roberts in NFL
Every writer is wrong from time to time. And even when they're not yet completely proven wrong, they can sometimes still be prone to mistakes.
I've endured this knowledge through a poorly written article or two, and I've accepted that I'm not perfect.
But more than a few bad articles, there have been quite a few bad predictions that have attached themselves to me in the past few months (and even years). ...
His tenure started with a bang. Down goes Cutler , in a way, is what should have rang in the ears of NFL fans everywhere.
Of course, you had your Jay Cutler haters, who shrugged off the bold move by new head coach Josh McDaniels to challenge the rising superstar quarterback.
Bold? Yes, you'd say.
Stupid? Hell no.
And in the end, that may have been the correct assumption.
But then, after the trade that ...
Mike Shanahan To Be Named Washington Redskins Head Coach
Posted: 5th January 2010 by kevin roberts in NFL
The Washington Redskins stuck another hand in the cookie jar and, for the moment, have come out on top as big winners, yet again.
Former Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan has agreed to a five-year deal worth roughly $7 million per year.
Shanahan reportedly was also given the VP of football operations title, which will give him the final say in almost every move dealing with his players ...
Jay Cutler in Chicago: Work in Progress or Utter Failure?
Posted: 5th January 2010 by kevin roberts in NFL
The 2009 NFL season is over for the Chicago Bears, both because it's now 2010 and because playoff season has started.
The Bears, at 7-9, despite once hoping that their ambitious trade for Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler would make them a complete team, will not be taking part.
After a horrid debut, in which Cutler displayed all the bad he brings to the table in a four-interception debacle against the Green ...
Why the Green Bay Packers Won’t Beat the Arizona Cardinals
Posted: 4th January 2010 by kevin roberts in NFL
Before this article grabs Green Bay fans by the wrists and drags them into the depths of painful , realistic punishment, let's adore the facts.
Green Bay just beat the Arizona Cardinals. They did so handily, 33-7, and after winning seven of their last eight games, there really isn't much to suggest a first-round exit.
If you truly believe that, you're either a naive Cheesehead from Wisconsin, or you simply don't ...
Brett Favre made his comeback worthwhile . He stared "late-season slide" talk straight in the face, and proceeded to throw six touchdowns and over 600 yards in his last five quarters.
Drew Brees and Peyton Manning faded (along with their teams), as they spent their final weeks on the bench of playing like shells of themselves.
Chris Johnson met his 2,000-yard quota. It took 36 carries against a weak Seattle Seahawks run ...
What the Wes Welker Injury Means for the New England Patriots
Posted: 4th January 2010 by kevin roberts in NFL
To put it bluntly, this is why you sit your starters in meaningless games.
The New England Patriots entered Sunday's match-up with the determined Houston Texans at 10-5, as division champs, and with a chip on their shoulder.
They should have quit while they were ahead. Literally .
But even before the game took a turn and all of Houston saw (at least for another three hours) a decent shot at the ...
The curse has to end sometime. Just ask the Boston Red Sox.
Ask all the Chicago Cubs fans who are still crossing their fingers, saying their prayers, and dreaming those dreams.
Even if it hasn't happened yet, it eventually will.
Most (if not not every) record will be broken. Games that shouldn't be won will be won. And curses, as mystical and evil as they may appear, will always be lifted.
Don't look now, ...
