Yesterday on his radio show, "Inside the Redzone" on ESPN 980, Washington Redskins vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato announced that embattled head coach Jim Zorn would finish out the season with the Skins.
I can only imagine he made this announcement not because players and fans have asked management for a clear answer on Zorn, but because no one else wants the job.
Defensive coordinator Greg Blache has ...
Don Mattingly: The Next Manager of Your Washington Nationals?
Posted: 21st October 2009 by Josh McCain in MLB
The Washington Post and AOL Fanhouse are reporting that Los Angeles Dodgers bench coach and former Yankee great Don Mattingly is a candidate for the vacant manging spot for the Washington Nationals.
This past week, the Nats have asked and were granted permission by the Dodgers to court Mattingly.
He told Fanhouse that any interview would wait until after the World Series.
Personally, I think this is a great move for the ...
Jeff Fisher, in a Peyton Manning Jersey, Finally Feels Like a Winner
Posted: 21st October 2009 by Josh McCain in NFL
This week Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher appeared with former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy at a fundraiser in Nashville.
As a joke Fisher sported a Peyton Manning jersey, and said "I just wanted to feel like a winner."
Apparently, as fanhouse.com is reporting, this isn't sitting too well with Titans fans.
Now being that I'm not a Titans fan I get the joke.á It's not fall-out-of-my-chair funny, ...
IÆm a dog lover, in fact I have two of my own: a rambunctious Jack Russell Terrier (some may say Terror) named Taylor, and an older than dirt Beagle named Diamond.
I was completely and utterly appalled by the actions of fellow Virginian Michael Vick when it was discovered that he was the leader of an underground dog fighting ring.
However, I was of the ilk that after he had served his ...
The Most Significant Insignificant Team in The NFL, Possibly the World
Posted: 19th October 2009 by Josh McCain in NFL
Just when I thought the Washington Redskins could not sink any lower.
The Redskins have now given three winless teams their first victory.á
Two weeks ago the team brings in Sherm Lewis to be an "adviser" for the offense, and this morning he was named the new play caller, which of course means that job was stripped from hapless head coach Jim Zorn.
That however, has all been topped.
The tech channel ...
Jim Zorn and Vinny Cerrato’s Fate Tied Together? Well Fire Zorn Now!
Posted: 19th October 2009 by Josh McCain in NFL
ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Washington Redskin's head coach Jim Zorn and vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato's fate may be linked.
They are reporting that Jim Zorn could be gone after Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles and Vinny could be fired by the end of the season.
This, of course, doesn't guarantee that the team will have a general manager, but I think all of Redskins Nation out there ...
Excluding the Giants, the Washington Redskins have just handed a third winless team, in this case the Kansas City Chiefs, its first win of the season.
Despite having two wins, I think I can say with certainty the Redskins might be the worst team in the National Football League.
I've tried to avoid the piling on of Jim Zorn in the past couple of weeks, but today his coaching went from ...
Honestly, loyal reader, I am technically the bonehead this week, mostly because I was on vacation and had zero access to football, with the exception of being able to catch some of the Washington Redskins game on AM radio.
However, I didn't want you to go a week without your favorite weekly column on B/R.
So since I was unable to catch any of the games, and highlights were of no help, ...
As week four in the NFL was drawing to a close I was trying to think just who this week's Bonehead was.
Originally I thought it would be an easy choice.á I was going to go with Quincy Butler of the St. Louis Rams.á
For those of you who didn't see the game or the highlights here's why.á In what was a tie game The San Francisco 49ers punted the ball on ...
Why Coach Zorn Was Right for Leaving Jason Campbell in
Posted: 5th October 2009 by Josh McCain in NFL
After watching the first half of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Washington Redskins, I wondered how Jim Zorn could leave Jason Campbell in the game after a fumble and two interceptions?
Jason's quarterback ranking for the first half was 18.1.
The second half began with cornerback Donte Hall intercepting a wayward Josh Johnson throw.
I expected to see Todd Collins lead the offense on the field.á I mean, Andy Reid has ...
