NFC West Preview: In Weak Division, San Francisco 49ers Might Be Best Bet
Posted: 28th June 2010 by John Breitenbach in NFL
With the preseason right around the corner, here is a breakdown of the NFC West division teams.
Offense
Quarterbacks
San Francisco pretty much wins this by default.
Alex Smith is an average QB, but he’s still superior to Leinart, Hasselbeck and Feeley. Charlie Whitehurst has proven nothing at the NFL level and I would be amazed if a spread QB like Bradford played well in his rookie year.
Smith is less than ideal ...
NFC South Preview: Tradition of Surprises Will End in 2010

Quarterbacks
What more is there to say that hasn't already been said about Saint Brees? He truly elevated himself into the top NFL echelon and now has a ring to prove it.
Undoubtedly a top 3 guy, Drew Brees moved himself ahead of Brady in my rankings and is tied with Peyton Manning.
Falcons' QB Matt Ryan is the best "young" QB around. He had an incredible rookie year leading a team seemingly ...
QB - Jimmy Clausen, Carolina, 48 overall (2nd)
Clausen was a fantastic college QB. He played on a horrible team at Notre Dame with an awful offensive line, running game, and defense. Lucky for him he landed in Carolina who have arguably the best duo of RBs in the division and franchise OTs in Jordan Gross and Jeff Otah. He has a good arm, above average accuracy, and has performed well in ...
Every year we hear the same cliche come draft time. Invariably someone will comment, "You should always wait on a RB you can get one in the later rounds." It is evident from simply observing the best backs in the NFL that it does require a high pick to get a truly special back.
Here is a look at the top 10 backs in terms of rushing yards last year:
1. Chris ...
1. Cowboys: 9-12 Ws
2. Giants: 8-10 Ws
3. Redskins: 7-9 Ws
4. Eagles: 6-9 Ws
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have the best team on paper. They have still question marks, but fewer than other NFC East teams.
Romo is still the QB, and he's undoubtedly a top 10 guy. At receiver, they have Miles Austin coming into his second year with Roy Williams, who, despite being unworthy of the first-, third- and sixth-round picks given ...
1. STL - Sam Bradford QB
The right position, but the wrong player. Clausen is the better prospect in my opinion, but Bradford looks set to go No. 1 overall. This pick is complete.
But, despite being the first overall pick the Rams will be unwilling to give Bradford too much money considering his shoulder situation. If the two sides can't agree the Rams will try to trade the pick ...

Trade: The St Louis Rams trade the 33rd overall pick to the Panthers for the 48th (2nd) and 78th (3rd) overall picks.
33. Carolina - Demaryius Thomas, WR
34. Detroit - Brian Price, DT
35. Tampa Bay - Damian Williams, WR
36. Kansas City - Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB
37. Washington - Rodger Saffold, OT/OG
38. Cleveland - Nate Allen, FS
39. Oakland - Cam Thomas, DT

In this article, I will try to identify who I think which team has the best unit at each position. It will be important for there to be depth at a position as well, so don't be amazed if the Colts QBs or Vikings RBs don't make the list. This is a list based on 2009 production only, so I won't include players who have changed teams. Begin Slideshow
I recently completed a community mock draft on a local website. The premis was that one person would take each team and make the pick that most made sense from their perspective. Each person tried to follow what they thought the franchise would do.
The complete mock can be found here: http://forum.nfluk.com/showthread.php?t=63574 along with every GM's reasons for their pick. I was the Philadelphia Eagles GM.
1. St Louis - Ndamukong Suh, DT
2. Detroit - Russell ...
Assessing What The Eagles Will Do With Their First Round Pick
Posted: 6th March 2010 by John Breitenbach in NFL
This is an assessment of what the Eagles have done under Andy Reid and through this process predict what direction they will go in the future. This is by no means an absolute science, but Reid as Vice President of Football Personnel certainly has a significant impact on drafting. Despite new GM Howie Roseman, I doubt the Eagles will deviate from the path they have already established.
First we'll look at ...
