Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire? Could the Jets, NHL Really Re-Unite?
Posted: 1st April 2010 by Joe Mikolai in NHL
J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!
Okay, so they're not exactly the battle cry of NFL football team from New York but unlike the former, the NHL team is a version I could get used to and ultimately cheer for.
For those of you who read my columns, I've been doing the best I can to provide you with updates when possible concerning the NHL's on-again-off-again courtship with its former Canadian markets most notably Quebec ...
For The Good Of The Game: Why the Coyotes simply must relocate North
Posted: 27th March 2010 by Joe Mikolai in NHL
Over the past several weeks we've seen the Phoenix Coyotes continue to make a mockery of the NHL by refusing to wallow in their own self pity and vanish into thin air and eventually resurface somewhere in the North where they belong.
Instead of going away, as I've suggested so many times, (see Hockey Traditionalists Better Hope Coyotes, Thrashers, and Panthers lose soon ) only the fast-fading Atlanta Thrashers and ...
In a Perfect World, Imposter Coyotes Would Win Cup, Then Move to Quebec
Posted: 18th March 2010 by Joe Mikolai in NHL
Since the last time I wrote on the issue, Hockey Traditionalists Better Hope Coyotes, Thrashers, and Panthers lose soon, the Phoenix Coyotes went from 24-13-3 to the 43-22-5 record they hold today.
While they are still holding firm to their forth place hold in the Western Conference standings, their record 19-9-2 continues to impress few and depress others.
Since my last article on this subject above, written in December, the team has ...
Minnesota Timberwolves Fans Would Be Wise To Watch Evan Turner and Ohio State
Posted: 14th March 2010 by Joe Mikolai in NBA
After struggling the entire season over which of the only three "locks" I see in this year's upcoming draft, provided they all declare—Kentucky's Jon Wall and DeMarcus Cousins and Ohio State's Evan Turner—I decided about three weeks ago that for the good of the franchise as who is the best fit, that player should be Ohio State's G/F Evan Turner.
Big Ten Player of the Year aside, he is the best ...

Hockey Traditionalists Better Hope Coyotes, Thrashers, and Panthers lose soon

If you are a baseball fan, then you remember in 2002 when the Contraction Kids, the Minnesota Twins and Montreal Expos each had above average seasons after appearing to be headed to the chopping block.
In the Twins case, they won the American League Central by a comfortable nine games en route to a second round exit in the American League Championship Series to the Los Angeles Angels.
The Expos, meanwhile, went ...

Yankees Latest Dumb Move Has Yankee Critics Like Me Puzzled
Posted: 22nd December 2009 by Joe Mikolai in MLB
Today the Yankee$ reacquired starting pitcher Javier Vazquez (pictured) for a prospect and namely spot starter Melky Cabrera who went to the Braves. Due to this, this day, December 22, 2009 may live in infamy since I think it has the potential to be a stupid, hasty move.
Consider that last year at this time, Traitor Tex, formerly of the Los Angeles Angels and Braves,ásigned his massive mercenary contract with ...
Merry Christmas: Orioles Surpise Fans With Gonzalez, Atkins Signings
Posted: 19th December 2009 by Joe Mikolai in MLB
Last year at this time, if you remember, I bought into the falsifiedáTex to Baltimore rumors hook, line, and sinker.
In doing so, I wrote á"Who says you can't go home? Orioles expected to court Teixeira, Burnett" and "All Baltimore Orioles fans want for Christmas is for Mark Teixeira to come home" among others.
In the most exciting offseason since 2003, which netted Miguel Tejada, Javy Lopez, and Rafael Palmiero in Baltimore, ...
Denver Broncos Lose Four Straight: Not so Easy, is it Josh McDaniels?
Posted: 22nd November 2009 by Joe Mikolai in NFL
Success came to you too early, you little punk.
Sure, you took advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime "immaculate deflection" to beat the upstart Cincinnati Bengals in Week One and surprised a few people with wins over New England and the Dallas Cowgirls which looked impressive at the time.á
But much like the rookie wall has hit overrated Mark Sanchez, it has similarly hit youù right in your big, fat mouth.
I don't know ...
