Could the Maryland Terrapins Be the Phoenix Suns of the ACC?
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NBA
Probably not, but Gary Williams and the Maryland Terrapins are going to give small ball a go tonight against Fairfield , and maybe throughout the regular season.
Tonight, Williams said, the No. 25 Terps (1-0) might use four guards at times against the Stags (2-0), who have out-rebounded their opponents by eight per game in wins over Fordham and Central Connecticut State. Guard Sean Mosley (St. Frances), who enjoys inside ...
Let Steve Hauschka land on his feet somewhere else will a fresh start and the rattle fully out of his spirit . The Ravens are chasing the playoffs and genuinely have no room or time to coddle a position that, historically, has been paramount to the teamÆs success.
Oh, and in case you were wondering about Matt Stover? From the Ravens story:
This all takes place just days before longtime Ravens ...
Who wouldÆve thought a subpar performance against the leagueÆs worst franchise wouldÆve turned into an injury report nightmare for the Ravens. From Aaron Wilson and the National Football Post :
- (Terrell) Suggs was wearing a full leg brace and had an electronic stem device attached to his leg. HeÆs scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam today. *Note: SuggsÆinjury was sustained after Browns quarterback Brady Quinn dove at ...
Ravens-Browns: Fault the Ravens for Winning By Default
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NFL
A win is a win and with significant ground to make up in the AFC North, the Ravens will take last nightÆs 16-0 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
But what we once called lapses on offense are now full-blown trends, and we now know that unless dramatic changes occur, the Super Bowl team we once knew just two months is likely 9-7 and home for the football postseason holiday.
0-0 at the ...
Betts Not Better Than Portis, But Certainly a Better Fit
Posted: 16th November 2009 by Jarrett Carter in MLB, NFL
It is impossible to make the claim that Ladell Betts is a better running back than Clinton Portis. Not only has Portis delivered the goods in Washington , but over his tenure in the NFL, heÆs one of the best of all time.
So no, the calls for Portis to lose his job are unfounded based on the stats. But can you make personnel decisions based on stats alone? Is ...
It seems almost unfair that the unceremonious ending to Jamal LewisÆcareer be highlighted by a Monday night matchup against the team he helped to make famous.
The 10-year veteran, who has been staunch about his plans to retire following the conclusion of this season, will host a Ravens team with a season on the line and thousands of his yards and memories to their credit.
He wonÆt be remembered as one ...
I was all set to pen a post about how John Riggins was nothing more than a bigger, more popular version of Brian Mitchell; a former Redskin hardwired to blow hard for fast money.
But after reading this piece from the Washington PostÆs Sally Jenkins , you get a background on Riggins that puts brains behind the bluster, and reasoning behind the rage against the Redskins. HeÆs a guy with ...
Huffington Post Sports Joins the ôRip Daniel Snyderö Movement
Posted: 12th November 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NFL
The Huffington Post unveiled its new sports section yesterday, and minus the lack of diversity among the writers, you can find decent coverage of daily sports content.
Of particular note to the DMV demographic is one of the pageÆs entrants into the ôDestroy Daniel Snyderö media campaign; this one authored by Thomas B. Edsall . Among the choice grafs aimed squarely at SnyderÆs dome:
Snyder ù professional footballÆs answer to Donald Rumsfeld ...
Delonte West from Cleveland Cavaliers Delivers Supreme Mathematics
Posted: 12th November 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NBA
The troubling saga of PG native Delonte West continues; now he is befuddling Cleveland media with algebraic riddles .
West, who is bipolar and is facing six weapons charges from a Sept. 17 incident in Maryland in which police say he was carrying on a three-wheeled motorcycle three loaded guns and aná eight-and-a-half-inch bowie knife, was asked after WednesdayÆs shootaround how he is progressing after having two leaves of absence during ...
We know for a fact that Ed ReedÆs neck injury of two seasons ago caused him to consider retirement. Obviously, like most football players money and pride diverted his course back to superior play-making for the Ravens.
And while he has played at a Pro Bowl level, his neck may be paying a hefty price that is translating to his performance on the field.
ôIf thereÆs a point that I come ...
