Ron Jaworski Defends Jason Campbell, Bemoans Redskins’ Stretch Play
Posted: 21st December 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NFL
If Ron Jaworski believes in Jason Campbell , then why canÆt raving lunatics around the DMV believe in Jason Campbell?
Or perhaps youÆd like more stretch plays served up with your 5-11 season?
Jaworski noted the gameÆs biggest audible early in the fourth quarter. Campbell approached the line, ready to run a stretch run play. But he spotted one safety deep and a cornerback playing wide receiver Santana Moss tight.
Campbell raised his ...
The sentiment is two down and two to go for the Baltimore Ravens.
TheyÆve dispatched of the Lions, and assaulted the Bears in a display reminiscent of the better days from the Monsters of the Midway . One gameù a showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelersù stands between the Ravens and a playoff spot (and a trap game against the Oakland Raiders that they can and should win).
But that will ...
With Daniel Snyder on the verge of bringing in Mike Shanahan as head coach of the Washington Redskins, D.C. Landing Strip has provided us with insight into what this team could be with a little continuity.
Specifically, with Jason CampbellÆs mastery of the offense ;áwith no less of an authority on characteristics of success than Malcolm Gladwell.
Everyone always says what an incredible advantage it has been for Peyton Manning to have ...
Bill Parcells famously said that you are what your record says you are, and no truer words have ever been spoken. But in Washington, one of the things that makes local sports so agonizingly painful to root for is that talent doesnÆt always meet coaching, which usually doesnÆt meet fan expectations.
And in the end, you have a hodgepodge of hurt feelings and loss column notches.
But you have to wonder, given ...
To answer that question, you have to look at what you knew about both teams before the season started, and what weÆve learned thus far.
We knew that the Washington Redskins were a mess coming into 2009. They had an embattled head coach from last yearÆs swoon in the second-half of the season. They had a quarterback they didnÆt want but had to have , and another pricey free agent on ...
Terrell Suggs Sued by Candace Williams for $70 Million
Posted: 10th December 2009 by Jarrett Carter in NFL
In the latest turn of events in the Terrell Suggs-Candace Williams story, Williams has official filed a $70 million lawsuit against the Ravens linebacker.
She is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages.
In the custody complaint, Williams says that she and Suggs are ôunable to effectively communicate as to the major issues regarding the minor childrenö due to SuggsÆôirrational and violent tendencies.ö She seeks child ...
Brendan Haywood is an active blogger on the Yardbarker network. Over the course of his new media career, his perspectives from politics to pop culture have proven much like his offensive finishes at the basket...
Underdeveloped and disappointing.
His latest foray into editorializing has resulted in yet another bumbling exercise of misunderstanding and restating. This time, itÆs on the hot button topic of Tiger Woods and his transgressions.
Haywood invokes the name of ...
Finally, the Baltimore Orioles are investing in some pitching. Young arms are good to build on, but veteran arms are needed to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox, also known as the Boardwalk and Park Place of Major League Baseball.
Kevin Millwood should be, at most, serviceable as a starter for this team.
Millwood is six-to-seven innings in the book and pretty stingy on allowing runs. I watched his start for ...
Ray Rice is as honest as he is fast, so in some respects, you can credit him for his comments about Lambeau Field.
ôTo be honest with you, it was just Lambeau Field,ö Rice told Drew Olson of OnMilwaukee.com. ôI didnÆt see anything special. They put us in the middle of nowhere, and itÆs not a real exciting place. Everything about this place is terrible, to be honest with you.ö
I actually ...
So apparently, Graham Gano is good enough to kick for the Washington Redskins but not for the Baltimore Ravensùthe team that actually cut him in favor of Field Goal Failure in the Flesh, the now-departed Steve Hauschka.
During preseason, he was just as bad as Hauschka, but had far more credibility with his time at Florida State.
I donÆt know what grinds my gears more. The fact that the Ravens released him ...
