Posted: 16th November 2009 by Hotnuke in MLB
Reading as much as I could find on the subject over the past month or two I came to only one conclusion:
á
Andrew McCutchen, J.A. Happ and Tommy Hanson were considered by many writers and bloggers throughout the nation as the top candidates for the 2009 NL Rookie of the Year Award.
á
Among these writers and bloggers, any one of the three were considered worthy of the honor. To many of them, ...
Miami-Cleveland: Heat Fall Just Short in Heartbreaking Loss to Cavaliers
Posted: 13th November 2009 by Hotnuke in NBA
In a titanic showdown betweenáDwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers last night in AmericanAirlines Arena,áD-Wade and the Heat fell just short of James and the Cavs, losing a heartbreaker at home 111-104; which brings me to the subject of winning.

Vince Lombardi, the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1959-67, has probably been quoted about ôwinningö more than any human being in ...
Miami-Cleveland: Heat Gonna Give Cavaliers Same as They Gave Wizards
Posted: 12th November 2009 by Hotnuke in NBA
The Miami Heat are on a roll this year and find themselves in first place in the Southeast division, ahead of the Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic (6-3). That didnÆt change Tuesday night as they torched the Washington Wizards (2-6) for the second time in less than a week for a 90-76 victory.
á
Off to their best start in a decade, the Heat (6-1) once again relied heavily on their own ...
Miami-Washington: Heat Look to Burn Wizards for Best Start in a Decade
Posted: 10th November 2009 by Hotnuke in NBA
ItÆs been a decade since the Miami Heat started the season 6-1. Unless things go dreadfully wrong tonight in American Airlines Arena, that long drought will be over.
á
In their last matchup with the Washington Wizards nearly a week ago, the Heat were coming off a disappointing 104-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns in which they saw their stifling defense shredded in the fourth quarter by the perennial All-Star and two-time ...
IÆve never gotten into the Twitter craze.

For those unfamiliar with Twitter , itÆs a free social networking and microùblogging service that enables its users to send and read instant messages known as tweets .
á
I actually have a Twitter account, I think (a friend signed me upùI still havenÆt done anything with it), and occasionally get e-mails stating this person or that is now following me on Twitter . What theyÆre ...
Miami-New England: Dolphins Fall Short Against Patriots in 27-17 Loss
Posted: 8th November 2009 by Hotnuke in NFL
The Miami Dolphins won the time of possession over New England, controlling the ball nearly 31 minutes of the game. They also used the ôWildcatö formation effectively against the Patriots, with Ronnie Brown, Pat White, and Ricky Williams combining for 126 yards on 28 carries.
á
Ronnie Brown even threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Joey Haynos out of the formation to cap off a 16-play 66-yard drive in the third quarter ...
Miami-New England: Despite Everything, Will Dolphins Beat Patriots?
Posted: 8th November 2009 by Hotnuke in NFL
Two weeks ago, the Miami Dolphins were flying high. Sure, theyÆd started out the season 0-3, and were about to take on the NFLÆs highest-powered offense.
á
Yet, there was optimism in the air. It was an optimism that carried over to this fan, who predicted the æPhins would take down the previously undefeated New Orleans Saints.
á
Hell, I even had a cup of coffee riding on the results (there was also a ...
Unrealized Potential: Florida Marlins Trade Jeremy Hermida to Boston
Posted: 7th November 2009 by Hotnuke in MLB
On Sept. 30, 2009, Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez stated Jeremy Hermida wouldnÆt be playing anytime soon. Apparently, Hermida had injured an oblique muscle, and was scratched from the lineup indefinitely. I read a piece on FishStripes on the SB NationWeb site stated Hermida would probably ônot make another start for the Marlins...ö

Not only did he not make another start for the Marlins this past season, he likely wonÆt make another ...
Florida Marlins K Competition: Randy St. Claire Hired as Pitching Coach
Posted: 7th November 2009 by Hotnuke in MLB
In my last article on the Marlinsùwhich you can read here ùI stated that I felt the Marlins should promote in-house and bring Reid Cornelius or Scott Mitchell up from one of their minor-league affiliates to fill the pitching coach vacancy created when they moved Mark Wiley to another position within the organization.
á
Other names on the short-list to be hired for the position I mentioned included former Marlins pitching coach ...
The Best Money Can Buy: New York Yankees’ 27th Title No Real Accomplishment
Posted: 5th November 2009 by Hotnuke in MLB
As the New York Yankees rushed the field after the final out in the top of the ninth inning of Game Six of the World Series, cementing their victory and crowning them champions of the world again for the 27th time, I felt a little sick to my stomach.
á
IÆd hoped like hell throughout the playoffs that someone would be able to knock off the ôBest Team Money Can Buy.ö
