Giants-Chargers: New York Loses Must-Win Game
Posted: 9th November 2009 by Hot Stove New York in NFL
What do you do when you lose a self-proclaimed must-win game? The Giants did just that yesterday, wrenching defeat from the jaws of victory.
ThatÆs four losses in a row and counting, and theyÆve lost each game in a different way: A bad defensive effort started things off, the offense then followed suit, a total team disaster was next, and now a crushing, last-minute defeat rounds things out.
LetÆs count the ways ...
1. Joakim Noah and Roy Hibbert are fantasy forces: Noah is seventh in the league in rebounding with 11 per game. He is also sixth in blocks with 2.3 per game and is shooting 60% from the field. He is coming off a season-high 21 points and enjoying a breakout start to his third year.
Hibbert is also averaging a double-double with 11 points and 10.4 rebounds. He is blocking 2.8 ...
The New York Week that Was (World Series Edition)

Finally! The waiting is over! After nine long years without a title, the Yankees are champs once again. Nobody suffers like the Yankee faithful. Think of the toll all those championship-less years have taken on an eight-year-old Yankee fan whoÆs never seen his favorite team win.
After overcoming the curse of Danny Cater by winning it all in Æ77 and the curse of hiring a manager named stump with the ...
The GiantsÆtransformation from an elite NFL team to ineffectual mediocrity is astounding.
Against the Saints, the defense was the culprit; against the Cardinals, it was the offense; but yesterday against the Eagles, it was every aspect of the team that was horrible.
The Giants are misfiring on all cylinders. Alarms are sounding and people are running to the panic room. Are the Giants in a slump? Or are they a bad ...

Melo leads the NBA in scoring with 37.7 points per game and has scored at least 40 points in two straight games. He also has attempted 41 free throws and is averaging seven rebounds per game. The Nuggets are 3-0 including wins over Utah and Portland. If he continues this all season, he ...
Rangers-Coyotes: New York Wins One for “The Big Whistle”
Posted: 27th October 2009 by Hot Stove New York in NHL
The Rangers ended their three-game losing streak by beating Phoenix last night, 5-2, winning the game for former Ranger announcer Bill ôThe Big Whistleö Chadwick.
ôWeÆre dedicating our season to the announcing legend. So much of my youth was spent watching the Rangers on channel 9, listening to the antics of Chadwick and his partner, Jim Gordon, that for a while there, I thought Chadwick was my father, and my real ...
85. John Salmons

90. Tyrus Thomas

94. Rodney Stuckey
95. Aaron Brooks
96. Mike Bibby
Five more point guards were taken this round as well as the first two rookies.

My Strategy
Looking back, maybe I should have selected Stuckey or Mayo based on upside, but Andre Miller has good value this round.
Even though he is coming off the bench, ...
Hot Stove New York’s Fantasy Basketball: Round Seven

73. Andrew Bogut
74. Kevin Love

81. Fransico Garcia
82. T.J Ford
83. Paul Milsap
84. D.J Augustin
My Strategy: I was targeting Gordon and Green and was pleased that one of them was available. Green broke out last season averaging 16.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 three-pointers and one steal per game. He also played 36 minutes per game, ...
It was a brutal week for the New York football teams, as the Giants got killed and the Jets fell to lowly Buffalo and lost Kris Jenkins for the rest of the season. Even the hockey teams mixed in some debacles with a few wins. And something bad probably happened to the Mets even though their season is long over.
But even after last nightÆs loss, the Yankees are ...

á
My Strategy
I was expecting to see Bargnani gone in the fifth round, but was pleased when he was still there in the sixth. He had a career year in 2008-09, averaging 15.4 points, 5.3 ...
