What Should the Minnesota Timberwolves Do If They Get the Top Pick?
Posted: 25th April 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
The Timberwolves have a lot of options in the offseason. A lot of these options depend on the draft. The Wolves have a 20 percent chance of getting the No. 1 pick, highly projected to be John Wall from Kentucky.
Here's one way the Timberwolves could go about the offseason if they do get the No. 1 pick.
1. Draft John Wall
Yes, the Timberwolves picked four point guards last year. ...
Minnesota Timberwolves Enter a Completely Dependent Offseason
Posted: 16th April 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
So, it's all over. The worst season in franchise history is finally over after losing 29 of their last 31 games.
But the Wolves enter an offseason where they have two overseas players, five draft picks (three in the first round), a ton of cap room, and a team full of young players.
And yet, as the offseason starts, writers everywhere are getting right onto their keyboards to begin their predictions.
The ...
MInnesota Timberwolves with Expiring Contracts Who Should Be Re-Signed in 2010
Posted: 3rd April 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
The Timberwolves have pilled up a number of players whose contracts expire in the upcoming free agency class of 2010. Those players include:
-Brian Cardinal
-Nathan Jawai
-Darko Milicic
-Sasha Pavlovic
-Oleksiy Pecherov
-Damien Wilkins
This leaves a roster of 8 players, all of whom could be traded depending on draft, free agency, or other circumstances.
But, if the Wolves were to keep any of the 6 players they could let go at the end of the year, ...
The NBA gives out a number of post-season awards to standout players from around the league, such as:
-Most Valuable Player
-6th Man of the Year
-Rookie of the Year
-Most Improved Player of the Year
And while barely any Timberwolves are up for these awards in reality, if they all had to be handed to Timberwolves, here's how they would go.Begin Slideshow
Darko Milicic has asserted himself in Minnesota's starting lineup. He's played 13 games in Minnesota, and started seven.
Doesn't 13 games sound like a familiar number?
Oh, that's right. It's the Timberwolves' current losing streak.
Darko is playing better basketball than he has in years, and he seems to be fitting in well with the Timberwolves. But the thing is, the Wolves as a whole haven't been playing very well since his arrival.
And ...
In honor of the changing decade I wrote an article entitled, "Top 10 Minnesota Timberwolves of the Decade." This article honored the overall best contributers for the Timberwolves in the past 10 years.
In the comments section though, I realized some negative feedback arose because some of the talent wasn't entirely high class, and some of the players weren't all that great (ie: #10 was Mark Madsen).
So now I've created this ...
Like Other NBA Teams, Minnesota Timberwolves Don’t Need No. 1 Pick
Posted: 14th March 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
It's the John Wall draft in 2010. Just like it was the LeBron draft in 2003, and the Blake Griffin draft in 2009.
The problem is, if the Timberwolves secure the No. 1 overall pick, they have to start over a little more than they already did.
Just like all of the other teams.
The Wolves' players for the future are surrounded by this general idea:
Star: Al Jefferson or Kevin Love
Core: Jonny Flynn, ...
The Minnesota Timberwolves in the Playoffs May Happen Soon
Posted: 10th March 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
Let's say that the Wolves get a high first-round pick.
Let's say that the Wolves sign a pretty good free agent.
Let's say that the Wolves acquire Nikola Pekovic, and he becomes as good as expected.
What would happen to the Wolves? They'd get a whole lot better than some other teams in the league.
The highlight of the Wolves' rebuilding process is this new found direction. The Wolves know what they want out of ...
The Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled with many things this season. The biggest, most important thing that any pro team can struggle with is winning.
The Timberwolves have struggled with this a lot. Not just this year either.
It's become a bad habit the Timberwolves have.
If you look at the Celtics' recent signing of Michael Finley, you can easily see what that team is trying to do. They're not upgrading any shooting, any ...
T-Wolf Talk: Flynn Getting Hang of NBA At Midseason and It’s Normal
Posted: 5th January 2010 by Ethan McVansen in NBA
Last year at this time, people were questioning whether or not Kevin Love could be successful in this league because of his poor start and poor numbers.
Fortunately, Jonny Flynn isn't having this problem, and he's actually posting really solid numbers, and is third on many Rookie of the Year rankings.
Now Kevin Love is playing extremely well, is second in the league in rebounds, and considered by some to be the ...
