Should Kevin Kolb Be Considered a Fantasy Football QB1?
Posted: 6th July 2010 by Eric Stashin in NFL
The Eagles decided that Kevin Kolb was the future of the franchise at quarterback, so they were willing to deal Donovan McNabb in the division and hand over the keys to the castle. The question is, can Kolb manufacture similar, if not better, statistics?
Kolb appeared in five games in 2010, starting two. He was electric in those two starts:
Week Two vs. NO - 31-51, 391 yards, 2 TD, 3 ...

While rumors swirl that Cliff Lee is close to being dealt, there were plenty of on-the-field stories that are worth discussing. Felix Hernandez continued to thrive. Matt Garza and Mike Pelfrey continued to struggle.
Joey Votto had a big day at the plate. Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:
Hitters:

Hitter of the Week :
It’s not often that the overall best player in the game takes home this award. Usually he’s just consistently good, while someone else can erupt in any given week to take home the award. This week it’s different, as Albert Pujols is the winner. On the surface his .296 (8-27) average is nothing special, but that’s the only “average” thing about his week. He tied ...
Domonic Brown is, in a way, an insurance policy for the Phillies if they are unable to resign Jayson Werth this winter. It’s pretty safe to say that the 22-year-old is quite the safety net.
He dominated in Double-A with a .315 average, 15 HR, 47 RBI, 50 R, and 12 SB. Then, in his new challenge of Triple-A, he has hit .429 with two HR in eight games.
Drafted in the 20th round in the ...
Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Options: Week 14 (July 5-11)
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Eric Stashin in MLB
It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week. If I have someone rated as a three, four or five-star option, he is someone I would definitely use. A two-star option is someone who is borderline, but I’d strongly lean against it unless I have no other options. The one-star options are an absolutely-not scenario.
So, with that said, let’s take a look at the players ...
Perhaps, Brandon Jacobs' sheer size caused people to get giddy, thinking that he would simply run through people and into the end zone, racking up the TDs and ultimately causing him to be overvalued…
The thing is, could the correction have gone too far? Given his injury history it is understandable that fantasy owners may have soured on Brandon Jacobs heading into 2010, but according to Mock Draft Central he is ...
Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors, July 3: Jimenez, Strasburg, and More

The struggles of Ubaldo Jimenez continue, but will he be able to rebound? Could Wade Davis’s time in the major leagues be in jeopardy? Is Matt LaPorta now a usable option in all formats since returning from the minor leagues? Let’s look at these questions and all the rest from yesterday’s games:
Pitchers:
Ubaldo Jimenez (6.0 IP, 7 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 5 K) - Colorado Rockies - He ...

It’s time to check in on three more prospects from around the minor leagues. Are any of them primed to make an impact in the not too distant future? Let’s take a look:
Desmond Jennings - Tampa Bay Rays - OutfielderTriple-A: .301 (59-196), 1 HR, 21 RBI, 43 R, 19 SB
When we last checked in on Jennings he had not yet gotten going, hitting .236 over his first 110 AB ...
Fantasy Football Sleeper Spotlight: Is Mohamed Massaquoi Worth the Gamble?
Posted: 3rd July 2010 by Eric Stashin in NFL
While the Browns failed to settle on the man at the helm of their offense all year long, Mohamed Massaquoi some how stepped out of the shadows to emerge as a name worth knowing. While on the surface his numbers were modest at best, the flashes of greatness he showed spoke volumes of his potential.
Massaquoi caught 34 passes, which was tied for the team lead (and led the team ...

Mat Latos continues to roll on the mound. Max Scherzer continues to put his early season struggles behind him.
A.J. Burnett finally had a good outing. Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:
