Double G Sports Defeats Sports Page Network in Battle of The Blogs
Posted: 10th May 2010 by Double G Sports in MLB
Last week, Double G Sports battled Sports Page Network in Battle of the Blogs Fantasy Baseball. I was fortunate to come away with a 13-6-1 win over the blog network I write for. My offense took over and capitalized on Sports Page Network missing it's star catcher Joe Mauer. I won the week with a team batting average of .267. My team knocked seven home ...
New York Yankees: Post Boston Red Sox Series Thoughts
Posted: 10th May 2010 by Double G Sports in MLB
Long-time American League East rivals, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, battled it out in a three-game series at Fenway Park over the weekend. All three games were blowouts, as the Yankees took two of three from the Sox.
The Yankees are now 21-9 on the season, and sit a mere half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the division. New York has won eight of its last 10 ...
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter reached another milestone this past weekend and did so quietly.
Not much mention was made of baseball's poster boy after he took over the active hits lead.
As of today, Jeter has 2,781 hits and has overtaken Ken Griffey Jr. for the active lead. Griffey has 2,776 as I write this.
It is quite a feat for Jeter to already catch "Junior." Griffey already had over 1,000 hits by the ...
Just some thoughts after the Mets finished up their series with the LA Dodgers.
1. Home Sweet Home.
The New York Mets finished a tremendous homestand at 9-1. That is quite the accomplishment no matter who you are playing. This is only the third time in the teams history that they have finished a ten game home stand with a 9-1 record.
2. 1st Place
Yes, thats right, the New York Mets are in ...
Yankees Struggles Start at the Top. Blame Cameron Diaz?
Posted: 28th April 2010 by Double G Sports in MLB
The New York Yankees had started the season red hot but have cooled down as of late. Losers of four of their last five, the Yankees now sit 2.5 games back of AL East leading Tampa Bay. I decided to look back at the past five games and try to find a common theme. Well, I found one at it was right at ...
New York Mets Strikeout Specialist: Hisanori Ta”K”ahashi
Posted: 28th April 2010 by Double G Sports in MLB
If the Mets need a big strikeout out of the bullpen, Hisanori Takahashi may just be the guy.
Despite giving up at least one run in his past three appearances, the Mets call on Takahashi to eat up some innings out of the pen.
He leads all MLB relievers in strikeouts with 21. That's 21 strikeouts in just 14.1 innings pitched. His last two appearances have especially added to ...
Who Do The Giants and Jets Play in 2010? Take a Look.
Posted: 21st April 2010 by Double G Sports in NFL
The NFL announced the 2010 season schedules last night. As expected, the Giants will play the first game at the new stadium in Week 1 while the Jets will play the following day at home on Monday Night Football. Also of note, all Week 17 games this season are divisional contests. The NFL is hoping this is a step toward teams playing meaningful games at the end of the season. ...
He’s Here: Ike Davis Gets the Long-Awaited Call to New York Mets
Posted: 20th April 2010 by Double G Sports in MLB
It's the call most Mets fans wanted in spring training.
Ike Davis became a fan favorite with his impressive spring, but the Mets organization wanted to see him play more in Triple-A.
They chose to give the first base job to a combination of Fernando Tatis and Mike Jacobs while waiting for Daniel Murphy to return from injury.
Well, that didn't work out so well.
Jacobs was struggling at the plate, and Tatis is ...
I recently asked the Double G Sports Expert Panel to give me their MLB team rankings and with that I have come up with our power rankings.
I realize its only two weeks into the season and you can't get a true evaluation of a team in that short period of time. We will bring you our power rankings once a month. Who is ...
NHL Playoffs Round 1: Bad Blood Between New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers
Posted: 15th April 2010 by Double G Sports in NHL
An old rivalry ignited on the ice on Tuesday night between the second-place New Jersey Devils and the seventh-place Philadelphia Flyers in the opening round of the playoffs at the rock.
These two teams had heated playoff contests in the past. There is still a bad taste in Flyer fans' mouths from the 2000 Eastern Conference championship when the Flyers, carrying a 3-1 lead into Game 6 and welcoming the return ...
