Posted: 9th October 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
The Cowboys go into Arrowhead stadium on Sunday to face the lowly Kansas City Chiefs as they try to go over .500 before their bye week. The Chiefs have yet to win a game this season, but they do play hard. However, they rank 31st in total offense and the defense has its holes too. Matt Cassel is the quarterback for the Chiefs, and after being traded from the Patriots, he's ...

Dallas Cowboys First Quarter Report Card

Posted: 7th October 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
The Dallas Cowboys are through the first quarter of the season and the grades are in. Although they're 2-2, things are not looking good. á Quarterback: Tony Romo looked great against Tampa Bay, but has been confused and inconsistent since. He's 76-131 for 990 yards, which is good for a four-game stretch, but has four touchdowns and four interceptions. Last week in Denver, he overthrew a lot passes, including one that ...

Cowboys Injury Update Oct. 6

The Cowboys left Denver with two banged-up starters and will face the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday without them. Wide receiver Roy Williams took a huge hit from Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. Williams came back in and made one more catch, but everyone could tell he was in obvious pain. Williams was diagnosed with three bruised ribs and damage to his rib cartilage on Monday ...

Dallas Cowboys Fall Two Yards Short, Lose 17-10

Posted: 5th October 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
The Cowboys made a nice last minute effort but fell short at the Broncos' two yard line and lose their second game of the season, 17-10. This game was a defensive battle, but Brandon Marshall's 52-yard catch and run for a touchdown proved to be the difference in the game. The Cowboys played good defense on Marshall before that play as he had just three catches for 40 yards. Kyle Orton was ...

The Cowboys go on the road to Denver to face the 3-0 Broncos in a Sunday afternoon battle. The Broncos have spent the last three weeks beating up on some of the worst teams in the NFL. Now, their first true test comes in the Cowboys. The Broncos have been stellar this season, averaging in the top 10 in both rushing and passing defense. The leader of their 4-3 defense is ...

Cowboys Injury Report: Sept. 30th

Posted: 30th September 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
The Cowboys came away from their game with the Panthers relatively healthy, but their running back situation is a little cloudy. Marion Barber was held out of Monday's game and is still receiving treatment for his quad strain. There's a good chance he'll be able to play this weekend against the Broncos, but coach Wade Phillips hasn't said that Barber will play yet. Phillips has instead said that he'll evaluate Barber ...

Cowboys Dominate Second Half and Beat Panthers 21-7

The Cowboys overcame a lackluster first half and jumped on the Carolina Panthers to win their first game in their new stadium and improve to 2-1 with a 21-7 victory. Jason Garrett finally accepted that the Cowboys need to run to be successful, as the ground attack led them to 212 yards. Felix Jones had 94 yards on eight carries but had to leave the game in the third quarter ...

The Cowboys host their second game in their new home against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are 0-2 after losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. Now they come into Dallas hoping to put one in the win column. Expect the Panthers to try to test the Cowboys corners early in Monday's game, especially after watching tape of Sunday night's game against the Giants. Quarterback Jake Delhomme will have to hope ...

Tony Romo Doesn’t Need Change; Jason Garrett Needs to Trust Run

Posted: 23rd September 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
For the last two years, people have asked me about Tony Romo and his high interception count. I've said that you take the good with the bad.  He makes plays on the move and turns what should be sacks into 15-yard gains, bad snaps into first downs, and busted plays into touchdowns. So if he throws a few interceptions, I can live with it. However, I couldn't live with his performance on Sunday ...

Cowboys Injury Report: Sept. 22

Posted: 22nd September 2009 by Derek Major in NFL
The Cowboys have only one injury to be concerned about after their loss to the Giants. Running back Marion Barber suffered a quad strain during his 35-yard run pictured above.  Barber was seen grabbing his leg at the end of the run before falling on the ground, and an MRI on Monday confirmed the strain. It's too early to tell if Barber can play this week, but if he can't expect Tashard ...
