Charlie Whitehurst Trade Provides Insight into Seahawks’ Draft Intentions
Posted: 18th March 2010 by Derek Estes in NFL
Seattle's recent trade with San Diego for quarterback Charlie Whitehurst should have been relatively innocuous.
Picking up a player who, outside of his own club or college hometown, is virtually unknown would barely be a blip on the NFL radar—especially when that player is buried on the depth chart.
Such is the case with Whitehurst, who was the third-string quarterback behind Pro Bowler Philip Rivers and journeyman Billy Volek.
The cost for Whitehurst's ...
Never let it be said I'm above eating my own words.
Three days after I laid into the Chiefs for their lack of activity in free agency's opening days, Kansas City launched into a spending spree both sensible and aggressive.
The eerie quiet at Arrowhead while other teams entertained high profile unrestricted players (and a few restricted as well) caused some unease among fans and left at least this sports columnist doubting ...
The saying about March is "In like a lion, out like a lamb."
That may be true for the weather in some places, but if we were instead talking about free agency in Kansas City, most fans would already be set to sue general manager Scott Pioli for false advertising.
"We’re going to try to improve our team and supplement our team with free agents this year, as we did last ...
A player is not just measured by their physical ability or capacity to learn. Scouts search for (and if they don't, they should) that crucial "clutch" playerùthe ones who phrases like "Grace Under Fire" are used to describe.

Waters recently spoke to the Kansas City Star about the development of the line, implying their recent performance should be used to measure their ...

Similarly, football fans anticipate ...
Kansas City to Have a Merry Little Offseason: Part Two of Three

The presents have been unwrapped, the stockings emptied, at least one toy has already been broken, and the Christmas ham became ham sandwiches a couple hours ago.
But some Christmas wishes haven't been fulfilled just yet.á At least not in Kansas City, where the Chiefs have quite a bit of shopping to do.
Yesterday, the focus was on the the strong points of Kansas City's roster, where a number of young, talented ...
