LaTroy Hawkins, Miguel Tejada, Jose Valverde: Houston Astros Bid Farewell
Posted: 9th December 2009 by Denton Ramsey in MLB
It appears as though the Houston Astros will be losing their two-year closer, as well as likely parting ways with a key shortstop they hoped to convert to a third baseman.
With Jose Valverde declining the Astros' arbitration late Monday, Houston general manager Ed Wade also all but ruled out Miguel TejadaÆs return.
Houston then turned their focus to LaTroy Hawkins in a hope to at least salvage some of the talent ...
Houston Rockets Have Lots to Be Thankful For, Starting with Daryl Morey
Posted: 26th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NBA
When Shane Battier was first traded to the Rockets, people questioned if it would benefit Houston.
When the Rockets picked up Aaron Brooks in the NBA draft, people began asking the same sort of questions.
But Daryl Morey, Houston’s general manager, had faith throughout it all; and that faith is beginning to pay off in dividends on the hardwood.
Battier, no doubt, is the floor general for the Rockets; and oh yeah, the ...
Where Are the Houston Rockets’ Back-to-Back Title Players Now?
Posted: 25th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NBA
I was getting so excited the other night when looking up former Houston Rockets players and where they are now.
More specifically, I was searching Wikipedia for players from the back-to-back glory days with Hakeem ôThe Dreamö Olajuwon and Rudy Tomjanovich at the helm.
ItÆs amazing how many of them still have a hand in this game called basketball that I both love and adore.
Going from the NBA to retirement to ...
Houston Rockets are the ôNever Say Dieö Team of 2009-10
Posted: 23rd November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NBA
If the playoffs were to begin today, the Houston Rockets would be a six-seed in the West.
However, the playoffs are far from starting; which means the Rockets have plenty of time to improve their postseason status.
It may not always be pretty, but HoustonÆs NBA team keeps on winning.
Meet the ônever say dieö Houston Rockets. I love this team.
The Rockets pulled out another big win on Saturday night, Nov. 21 at ...
Jeff Bagwell: Looking Back At a Houston Astros Legend
Posted: 23rd November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in MLB
Jeff Bagwell is a name that resonates with the Houston Astros franchise.
Growing up in Houston and being branded a die-hard Astros fan since birth, I remember watching in awe as Bagwell smoked balls out of the ballpark.
I really think people tend to forget how good Bagwell really was.
Actually, Bagwell was the very first professional athlete I ever interviewed way back in the mid-90’s (I want to say it was 1994).
The ...
Houston Texans: One Fan’s Views Heading Into Monday Night
Posted: 22nd November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NFL
Bud Adams sucks.
Ever since moving HoustonÆs Oilers to Tennessee, that stick has gotten shoved further and further up AdamsÆexit-only.
From his tirade moments of giving the entire city of Houston the finger to his more recent antics that resulted in an NFL fine, Adams is just an angry and confused individual.
ItÆs time to seek therapy, Mr. Adams.
On Monday night, Nov. 23, AdamsÆTitans invade Reliant Stadium for a showdown with ...
Houston Rockets Prepare for Liftoff, Aim to Conquer LA Lakers
Posted: 14th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NBA
The last time the Houston Rockets and LA Lakers matched up, it took overtime for Kobe Bryant and the hated Hollywood bunch to defeat the good guys in the Lone Star State.
And somehow, people in the league and beyond continue to overlook HoustonÆs Rockets.
For the team and their fans, maybe thatÆs a good thing.
Heading into their second game (this time in Cali) against LA, Houston holds a 5-4 record.
Just last ...
Handful of Houston Astros Players File for Free Agency
Posted: 10th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in MLB
ItÆs going to be a busy offseason for the Houston Astros franchise.
With reorganization and revamping on the hearts and minds of team owners and managers, the true tasks lie ahead.
Free agency, of course, is just a part of that process, as a handful of Houston Astros players have now officially filed.
Those names include: Jose Valverde, Miguel Tejada, LaTroy Hawkins, Jason Michaels, and Darin Erstad (Doug Brocail has also filed for ...
Houston Rockets Cruise Past OKC Thunder, Await Lake-Show Next Sunday in LA
Posted: 7th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in NBA
Somebody forgot to tell the Houston Rockets they werenÆt supposed to be this good.
But if you were to poll the players on the team, theyÆd beg to differ as HoustonÆs hoops team entered this season with high hopes and high expectations.
So far, so good.
One game after falling to the defending NBA Champs in a loss the Rockets feel they very well could have (and likely should have) won, Houston bounced ...

Posted: 4th November 2009 by Denton Ramsey in MLB
The Houston Astros have named Jamie Quirk their new bullpen coach, according to senior director of digital media Alyson Footer.
Quirk was the bench coach for the Colorado Rockies from 2003-08 before joining the Cincinnati Reds last season as a scout.
