The Challenge: Why The Oakland Raiders Can Win Out To Finish 2009
Posted: 6th December 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Earlier this year, newly acquired defensive-tackle Richard Seymour guaranteed that the Raiders would be in the postseason.
Barring an extraordinary change of events, that is unlikely to happen for the Raiders.á However, I do believe that the Raiders can still finish with eight wins, and I believe that the Raiders should expect that from themselves.
The Raiders have Washington and Baltimore in Oakland, and Denver and Cleveland on the road to finish ...
Raider Receivers Emerge in Wild Fourth Quarter to Upset Steelers
Posted: 6th December 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Wow. What a fourth quarter that was!á
After a defensive struggle between the Steelers and Raiders for three quarters, both offenses exploded in the fourth quarter for a combined five touchdowns, with the Raiders upsetting the playoff hopeful Steelers 27-24.
The winning touchdown went to Raiders receiver Louis Murphy to cap an 88-yard drive led by quarterback Bruce Gradkowski.
In possibly the best quarterback performance since the days of Rich Gannon, Gradkowski would ...
Saying It Now: Why the Tennesse Titans’ Chris Johnson Should be NFL MVP
Posted: 2nd December 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
At this point in the season, NFL fans have certainly started to question who will be the NFL MVP.
The three names heard most often are the usual suspects: Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and Drew Brees.
At this point, Manning or Favre winning MVP is redundant.á Moreover, I cannot ignore the presence of Adrian Peterson in the same Minnesota backfield as Favre, while Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne have long been underrated ...
Why Tom Brady Is the Most Overrated Quarterback of All Time

As Peter Griffin would say, "You know what really grinds my gears?"
Tom Brady.á
I make no bones about that, but that does not necessarily mean that the facts don't support my conclusion. The facts, in fact, support the actuality of that as fact.
I have stated many times that I love to, "stick it" to Patriot fans, like any real rock musician loves to stick it to the man.
I respect Brady, ...
Stating The Obvious: Why Jon Gruden Should Coach The Redskins
Posted: 29th November 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
As a Raider fan, one of the worst days in my memory was when Al Davis traded Jon Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At the time, it seemed like a fleecing for the Raiders, but Gruden had changed the direction of the Raiders in 1998 by wresting power from Davis when Gruden got his quarterback in Rich Gannon instead of Jeff George in 1999. Davis likely looked ...
Why Al Davis Should Hire Joe Lombardi As Offensive Coordinator
Posted: 27th November 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Recently, I wrote an article in support of Raiders coach Tom Cable, after I had written an article earlier this season that expressed my discontent with the Raiders coach.
I believe that the Raiders are on the right track, despite the losses, because I do believe that the current players now care when they lose.
The difference is that I think the Raiders have gone from treading water to rebuilding mode, thus ...
Why I Support Oakland Raiders Coach Tom Cable
Posted: 26th November 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
So far this NFL season, Raiders fans have seenámuch of the same old same old.
But what has been different, it seems, isáthat the players are starting to care when they lose, rather than brushing it off carelessly because they get paid either way.
Several weeks ago, I wrote an article about my frustration with the three weeks of blowouts,áclaiming that either the Raiders hire Bill Cowher or Raider fans boycott.
Iáno longeráthink ...
Cult of the Quarterback: NFL QB Rules Erode the Game
Posted: 26th November 2009 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Here is a topic that grinds my gears: the debate on whether the NFL should inordinately protect the quarterback, and whether it makes the game better.
Frankly, I think it makes the game worse. To me, it is the same as home runs from steroids, only in the NFL it is a codified inflation of stats.
Statistics don't make the game better, they make it worse. It is that simple.á
Remember the ...
