The Truth About The Oakland Raiders 2010 Off-Season
Posted: 11th April 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
This NFL off-season has been an interesting one for the Oakland Raiders.
Since 2003, Raider Nation has been accustomed to big spending in free agency, in many cases on retread players, and questionable trades.
Then the "Al Davis is crazy" program would iterate and eventually, even the players, fans, and employees would start to believe it and lose confidence in the team; merely showing up in order to get paid and make ...
2010 Mock NFL Draft 2.0: Sam Bradford Still No. 1, CJ Spiller To Bills
Posted: 1st April 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
This year has presented a number of difficult questions, and it's hard to say how it will all pan out.
I have some unconventional picks in this mock. Read through and see if you can guess which ones are unconventional.
1.) St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
The Rams are rebuilding and should start with a franchise passer.
2.) Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
Detroit coach Jim Schwartz gets an anchor for the ...
Oakland Raiders: Why Al Davis Is Not Crazy, You’re The One Who’s Crazy
Posted: 1st April 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Admittedly, that headline is intended to be hyperbolic. I do have a point here however.
This offseason has seen a flurry of rumors around the Oakland Raiders, many regarding who will be the quarterback in 2010.
Donovan McNabb has been a hot topic recently, because Al Davis has traded high-picks for players that have only a year left on their contract. In most circles, that reasoning makes no sense.
Just recently, Mr. Davis ...
2010 NFL Draft: Players That Could Slip and Others That Could Rise
Posted: 31st March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
I recently wrote my 2010 NFL Mock Draft, in which I argued some non-conventional ideas about the upcoming Draft.
Such as, Detroit taking Russell Okung; Cleveland taking Eric Berry; CJ Spiller falling to Philadelphia; and Kansas City taking Jason Pierre-Paul.
I think people need to remember that the Draft usually does not follow "Best available player." You also need to consider that club's current prospects; holes; and system. Sometimes, the best available ...
Sam Bradford: Sooner Will Be the Next Peyton Manning
Posted: 30th March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
Following Oklahoma Sonner's quarterback Sam Bradford sparkling performance on his pro day, the blogs are now ablaze with writer's writing wishful scenarios in which the St. Louis Rams have an Al Davis moment and pass on the next great passer.
Every year, fans and writers alike analyze and hyperanalyze the skills of a quarterback prospect, because there's really no telling which skills will make him successful in the NFL.
Some things are ...
Should the 49ers Make an Offer To Raiders for Nnamdi Asomugha?
Posted: 28th March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
This has an on-going rumor lately: whether the Oakland Raiders should trade cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Generally, I would prefer that the Raiders retain Asomugha. But like anything, if the right offer came along, I would listen.
One intriguing possibility has been for the Raiders to trade Asomugha to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the Niners two picks in the 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
I say that, because when ...
Oakland Raiders: Moves That the Oakland Raiders Must Make
Posted: 27th March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
As a Raider fan, I have come to accept that Al Davis doesn't care about what fans think. Sometimes I wonder why Mr. Davis went into the business of the NFL, because when it comes to the fans, he seems to turn a deaf ear.
I said "seems" because that has been my perception, but I could be wrong.
Sometimes I wonder if Raider Nation should merely use reverse psychology in order ...
Donovan McNabb: Do Philadelphia Eagles Have Leverage in Trading Veteran QB?
Posted: 25th March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
The rumor mill is a-buzzing that the Philadelphia Eagles have put quarterback Donovan McNabb on the trading block.
Reportedly, the Eagles wanted two first-round picks and a third-round pick. Now, the Eagles would be satisfied with a high second-round pick, which would imply Oakland or Buffalo as the likely trading partner.
Both clubs are rumored to have inquired about McNabb, which raises questions about the Raiders, but most importantly, this situation ...
2010 NFL Draft: Should The Oakland Raiders Trade Nnamdi Asomugha?
Posted: 22nd March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
I decided to begrudgingly write this article, because the topic won't go away. That topic of course is whether the Oakland Raiders should trade cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha is easilya top-three cornerback in the NFL, along with Charles Woodson and Darrelle Revis. Personally, I would give Nnamdi a slight edge, because Woodson and Revis are part of better overall defenses.
I would only trade Asomugha on one condition—if the Raiders can move ...
In Defense Of The Indefensible: Future Of JaMarcus Russell In Oakland
Posted: 21st March 2010 by David Xaviel is the Real Mr. X in NFL
The quarterback controversy for the Oakland Raiders remains a hot topic amongst every Raider fan that bleeds silver and black.
JaMarcus Russell has all the tools, and yet Bruce Gradkowski has all the desire.
Going into the 2009 season, many Raiders fans and even the sports media believed that the Raiders had a chance to be competitive or at least give NFL and Raider fans alike something fun to watch.
Instead, we were subjected to more of the same ...
