The Rams’ Offensive Line Ranks in the Bottom Five of the NFL
Posted: 18th June 2010 by David Leon in NFL
Yahoo Sports write Jason Cole just published a ranking of NFL offensive lines. He claims the Saints have the best offensive line, and the Raiders have the worst.
Where do the Rams stand in all this? The Rams rank 28th. You can read the story here.
As is the case in any ranking system, his findings are somewhat debatable. I find his ranking system is far too biased towards the ...
This is a countdown of the best players ever selected by the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams. Mind you, we are dealing exclusively with players taken by the organization on draft day.
Greats such as Dick "Night Train" Lane, Marshall Faulk and Kurt Warner are not eligible for inclusion, because they were acquired via a trade or free agency acquisitions.
You might be surprised by who makes the cut and who did ...
No Surprises: Rams and Cowboys Finalize Carpenter-Barron Trade
Posted: 10th May 2010 by David Leon in NFL
As expected, the st. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys finalized their Carpenter-Barron Trade this morning. There were no surprises. The trade is a straight-up one-for-one deal with no exchange of draft picks involved.
The trade has been characterized as an exchange of two disappointing 1st round draft picks by both sides. In this deal, the Cowboys will acquire a reserve swing-tackle and potential starter. The Rams will acquire a good ...
St. Louis Rams Ownership in Doubt as Stan Kroenke Tries to Sell Team to His Wife
Posted: 10th May 2010 by David Leon in NFL
The Rams ownership confusion seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Evidently, Stan Kroenke appeared before the NFL finance committee last week in New York City. He made a quite convoluted proposition there. Specifically, he would use his contractual right of first refusal, and his wife Ann Walton Kroenke would buy the Rams.
Sources inside the NFL question whether this proposal will pass muster. In all honesty, it does ...
Al Davis to Mel Kiper: This is Another Fine Mess You’ve Gotten Me Inl
Posted: 6th May 2010 by David Leon in NFL
Ah, I remember it like it was yesterday! The year was 2007. Mel was ranting and raving about JaMarcus Russel. One of the strongest arms ever seen. He can throw the football 50 yards from his knees.
Mel loves Al Davis. He consistently refers to Al one of the top personnel geniuses in league history. I believe the schmoozing worked. He sure seemed to talk Al Davis into picking JaMarcus ...
Saint Louis Rams’ Team Goal #3: Play the WCO Right or Don’t Play It at All
Posted: 3rd May 2010 by David Leon in NFL
I would like to offer a motion on the Senate floor: The next sports writer who says the Rams run the “West Coast offense” should be crucified upside down, castrated, doused in gasoline, and ignited with a military flame thrower. Perish the thought! Nothing could be further from the truth.
When a sports writer declares that the Rams run the West Coast, one of the following has to be true:
He is ...
Alex Barron Plans To Sign His Tender: St. Louis Rams Can Deal Him
Posted: 28th April 2010 by David Leon in NFL
Earlier today, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported that Alex Barron intends to sign his tender from the Rams. Barron is a restricted free agent, and restricted free agents cannot be traded unless they are under contract, or have signed their tenders.
Barron is described as "enigmatic" by Thomas. This 27-year-old offensive tackle from Florida State was picked No. 19 in the first round of the 2005 NFL ...

Mel Kiper Jr. Announces Plans For His Retirement On ESPN Live
Posted: 28th April 2010 by David Leon in NFL
On the April 19th, draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. announced plans for his eventual retirement on ESPN's NFL Live broadcast. His announcement shocked the Pro Football world.
While sparring with fellow draft analyst Todd McShay, Kiper made the following declaration: "If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterback in the NFL, I'm done. That's it. I'm out."
McShay asked the following question: "What is your time frame, Mel? When do we make that ...
