In some respects, February to April is the three greatest time to be a football fan. Sure, September kicks off the new year, then there's the Thanksgiving games, etc.
But February features the Super Bowl and the scouting combine. Then in March you have the free agent signing and the draft build up. During April you have the draft, and then more free agents signing.

This year was a season of hope for Lions fans. Jim Schwartz was brought on board along with a new coaching staff.á Thirty oneáplayers of the 2009 53 man rosteráare not part of the MattáMillen era. Oh, did I mention they fired Matt Millen?á
There were even snazzy new uniforms to completely put theáMillen era behind us.
Yes indeed, the year looked bright.á
Now it looks like another season down the toilet and ...
You know, the NFL is always reaching out to communities. You see the commercials with the Manning's and others playing with kids; teaching them about staying fit, being active, and playing football.
It's great to see the NFL so giving in these troubled times.
But what about their own?á
The Lions, for example, are a "community" in need. They went 0-16 last year. Sure, the Lions snapped a 19 game losing streak, ...
We've seen Matt Millen canned, thank god. A new coaching staff is at the helm; a better (MUCH better) coaching staff.
There's been some dramatic changes this offseason for Lions fans besides those listed above. We've left the old era of the Lions in the dust in nearly every way possible, besides relocating to Mexico.
New coaches, GM, uniforms, logo, and nearly an entirely new roster.
Hopefully the team's playing will change ...
