The 12 Days of Christmas for the Portland TrailBlazers
Posted: 14th December 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
Since the beginning of this 2009/2010 season, after perusing the schedule and prognosticating beyond a reasonable amount, my eye always came to the games just before Christmas. Specifically, our next four-game road trip but now, given the Suns resurgence, it expands to our next seven games.
There is not a more pivotal stretch of games this season as far as I'm concerned.
The biggest issue that I see, is potentially losing six ...
Game 24: Cleveland Cavaliers 104, Portland Trail Blazers 99
Posted: 12th December 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
Brandon Roy and the Trail Blazers went into Cleveland tonight and gave the Cavaliers everything they had, unfortunately it wasn't enough as the the Cavs covered a nine-point half time deficit, outlasting Portland 104-99.
In what was considered by some to be a turning point game for the season, one where our mettle is tested against a good team on the road, The Blazers showed a ton of heart and hustle. ...
Hollinger: Portland Trail Blazers No Longer a Threat out West?
Posted: 11th December 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
In today's PER Diem , Hollinger takes a look at why the Blazers are struggling. Surprisingly, it's more than just injuries, the startling thing is shots:
Plumb the numbers further, and there's one big change we haven't talked about much: shots. Last season the Blazers won by taking shots. Lots of them. Because of a slightly below-average turnover rate and a league-leading offensive rebound rate, Portland launched more shots per 100 ...
Trail Blazers-Pacers: Roy Leads Portland Past Indiana

Box Score
Despite injuries and team struggles recently, the Trail Blazers took care of a Granger-less Pacers team in Indiana, winning 102 to 91.
In the short term, this is an important win. It stops the bleeding, gets a few guys confidence, and hopefully helps the team discover its new identity without Batum, Outlaw, Oden, and Rudy. As predicted, Brandon Roy took control of this game especially down the stretch.
Tyler Hansbrough somehow ...

The healthiest part about this Blazer team is the depth at point guard. Nobody is perfect but every guy should be able to contribute. Lucky for the Blazers, TJ Ford has a tendency to completely disappear. In two of his last 3 games he had literally zero points. So anyway, he's filling space like Steve Blake , for some reason both ...

Game 22: New York Knicks 93, Portland Trail Blazers 84

Box Score
Shorthanded and struggling emotionally, Portland begins their road trip with a loss in New York City . A Blazer team that seemed so deep just a couple months ago, is now trying to fill the void of losing Greg Oden and missing key players in the rotation.
There were definitely two different thoughts coming into this game- either Portland would play inspired ball following the devastating loss of Oden, ...
It should be interesting to watch on the road trip, how the Blazer play under Dean Demopoulos.

I had the great pleasure of doing a Q and A with Lives from Knicks Fanatics . We touch on all of the usual questions that a West coaster might have for an East coaster. For my answers to his questions , head over to Knicks Fanatics . Also, they will be hosting a live chat tonight, so head over during the game to see Knicks fans and Blazer ...
