It was bound to happen based on the way talks were going, but today the NBA officially announced it was locking out the NBA referees. The officials Association rejected the most recent offer by a vote of 57-0 and we may be stuck with NBDL and WNBA referees as the NBA season begins. The Blazers just sent out this nice little tidbit of information.  Hersey Hawkins has joined the Blazer organization as the director of player player development. This week has been less than productive for the negotiations between the NBA and its referees. On Tuesday negotiations took a turn for the worst, according to ESPN: The NBA's most recent contract with its 60-plus referees expired Sept. 1 and Tuesday's bargaining session in New York was called to an abrupt halt by commissioner David Stern, according to one source with knowledge of the talks.
