On Sunday, Steve Blake got his groove back from behind the arc. He led all Portland scorers with 18 points and seemed confident, shooting 4-for-5 from deep. Andre Miller never got his game going, but against an aging Mike Bibby and rookie Jeff Teague, I like our chances. It's Andre's turn to do work tonight in the Rose Garden. Double digit assists seems like a ...

Hippo dropped us an update on Petteri Koponen. The Finns will be heard. Check out the Finnagler in action here .
Petteri Koponen celebrated All Hallow's Eve by sneaking back into Italian Serie A team Virtus Bologna's starting line-up in an away game against Bancatercas Teramo. Virtus managed to snatch a 66-69 (41-34) hard-fought victory. Brett Blizzard's (Best name of all time? Perhaps.-Ed. ) three almost ...
Sunday night in Oklahoma City, the Trail Blazers shook some early cobwebs and finished off the Thunder 83-74.
Steve Blake led Portland with 18 points including 4-of-5 from deep while Brandon Roy finished things off to bring Portland's record to 2-2.
While it's ridiculous to think that a win could be this important so early in the season, the Blazers needed this game. Coming off brutal losses to Denver and Houston, ...

Because its Sunday and you have nothing better going on (by "you" I mean "I") why don't we get a little creative during the Blazers vs. Thunder game.
Whoever tweets or emails me the funniest game related thought/observation/joke/whatever else will be the winner. I'll put your brilliant quip in the game recap.
That exposure alone can get you millions of dollars in endorsement deals. If that isn't enough, I can send you ...

A recurring theme in tonight's game will be two of our guys trying to stop one young star. Russel Westbrook is a stud, he's become a great addition to this Thunder team. He can score at will and his ability to find his teammates has improved in every game. It'll be interesting to see how Andre and ...
Blazers-Rockets: Houston Wins Without Big Stars 111-107
Posted: 31st October 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
On a day dominated by football in Oregon, the Blazers took a trip to Houston to take on the pesky Houston Rockets.
Unlike Tuesday's opening night game, the Rockets were focused and determined to show the Blazers they can play without Yao, McGrady, or Ron Artest.
This particular contest was different than any I'd really seen before from these two teams. Offense seemed to dominate for both, with Houston coming out ...

Aaron Brooks has proved in this first week that he can be a scorer or a distributor. He's obviously one of the best players on a talent-thin Rockets team. I still like Portland's tandem, Blake needs to hit three's tonight to prove his worth and Andre really just needs max minutes. I like our guys tonight.

Tonight the Blazers get their first real test of the season. A game against a division rival on national television.
I had a chance to watch Denver beat up on the Jazz last night. The Nuggets are very athletic, confident and full of energy. Especially Carmelo Anthony. Melo appears to have lost weight and he looks better than ever. I have to say I'm glad they played last night, hopefully it ...
The first week of Bloguin power rankings are ready and here's a few words from Dave regarding the voting:
Through out the year, we'll ask our esteemed Bloguin Basketball blogs to vote on the NBA from top to bottom. The season just started tonight, but we wanted to get rankings of everyone's thoughts, as a snapshot prior to the games that actually count.
