Blazers-T’Wolves: Portland Picks One Up Over Minnesota, 106-78
Posted: 22nd November 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA, NFL
Due to college football and social obligations, I wasn't able to watch last night's game until this morning. Overall, it went as expected but their were some key changes and excellent developments to speak of.
I touched on it in my recap of the Warriors game, but there were changes that needed to be made for the Blazers. Fortunately, Portland's coaching staff saw that as well and they scrapped the three-guard ...
The Blazers are coming off a very rough night down in Oakland.á Luckily, the Blazers get to bounce back the next day at home against a team that has lost 11 straight games and hasn't won since the first game of the season. It has been a tough season so far for the young Wolves.

Warriors-Blazers: Golden State Stops Portland 108-94

I'm really starting to wonder.
It's been a strange first 14 games in Portland this season. We've had success overall, but against who? A lot of terrible teams.
The Blazers have played well below what they are capable of achieving. Luckily, those bad games against bad teams ended up as wins.
But tonight? All the glaring weaknesses, from coaching to execution, were fully magnified.
What the Hell was that tonight?
Don't get me wrong, ...

The Detroit Piston have a surprisingly good one-two punch at point guard. Rodney Stuckey (17ppg) and Will Bynum (14ppg) are both very capable of scoring but not especially good at distributing. We'll have to work hard to stop these guys offensively but I like Andre Miller in this game thanks to his veteran mentality. Bayless probably needs to get some run just ...
Do You Want to Win Tickets to a Blazers/Laker game on Jan. 8?
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
I just got an e-mail from Matt Webber who works for a local Oregon non-profit called the Archimedes Movement which was founded by former Gov. John Kitzhaber.
Here's what Matt had to say:
We worked with the Blazers Organization to arrange tickets for the Jan. 8th Lakers/Blazers [game] to use as a promotional fundraiser tool on our website.
We've got 5 pairs of tickets to the game that are 100-level seats. For just ...
10. O.J. Mayo - Mayo had a nice rookie season for the Grizzlies, and big things are expected of him by a franchise that has a lot of young talent.
I think Mayo would have benefited greatlyáhad Memphis been able to bring in a veteran during the off-season that could provide stable leadership. But apparently the Grizzlies management doesn't follow the NBA, because instead they brought in Zach Randolph and ...
Portland Trail Blazers’ Owner Paul Allen Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
It was announced yesterday that Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In a memo to the employees at Vulcan, Allen's sister had this to say about the situation:
Paul is feeling OK and remains upbeat, he continues to work and he has no plans to change his role at Vulcan. His health comes first, though, and we'll be sure that nothing intrudes ...
Blazers-Hawks: Portland Sends It to OT, but Atlanta Sends Them Home
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Busta Bucket in NBA
The first competitive game in over a week proved that you have to play all 48 minutes, or in tonight's game, 53 minutes.
The Blazers fell to the Hawks 99-95 in Atlanta, after a hard fought battle and a frustrating overtime.
In the previous four games on the road, the Blazers started off shooting poorly, and in most cases, so did their opponent. Tonight it was the exact opposite as the ...
In a game surrounded by questions about the firing of Byron Scott, the Portland Trail Blazers broke the old adage that when a team loses its coach they win the games immediately following.
LaMarcus Aldridge finished strong with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The struggling Hornets lost Chris Paul, and an important home game.
Prior to the game, my one true target defensively was Paul. In the past he's been able to ...
10. Greg Oden ùI struggled with the placement of Oden. Many people will disagree with him being on the list, I'm sure. Statistically, he looks pretty average. However, he is fourth among centers in PER. When he is on the court, he looks very good this year, dominant at times. Physically, few can match his combination of strength and athleticism. He has a better rebounding rate than any ...
