Another Sports Blog to Check Out: Confessions of a She-Fan
Posted: 7th April 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
Earlier today I pointed out one of my favorite blogs, Mike Ashmore’s Thunder Thoughts. There is another blog you should be reading called Confessions of a She-Fan written by Jane Heller.
She isn’t the tireless reporter in the vein of Ashmore, but she does have something in common with him: great writing. Her insights and humor are second to none. Aside from her great writing, you should be reading her blog ...
Mike Ashmore: This Trenton Thunder Blogger Is A Beast
Posted: 7th April 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
For those of you who don’t know who he is, Mike Ashmore runs a Trenton Thunder blog for the Hunterdon County Democrat.
He’s also one of the better, and more hard working bloggers out there, covering the Yankees organization.
Well, I’d say he topped himself yesterday as he interviewed at least nine members of the organization during the Thunder’s media day.
Here are the interviews:
Tony Franklin Grant Duff Ryan ...
Yankee Notes: AJ and Posada, Nick Johnson, and the Bullpen
Posted: 7th April 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
Sunday night’s loss was a tough one for the Yankees and the bullpen, but they turned it around last night as they beat the Red Sox 6-4 to improve their record to 1-1.
Here are some notes:
Jorge Posada caught AJ Burnett yesterday and the world didn’t explode. Actually, Burnett had some nice things to say about Jorge: “When he’s blocking 57 footers early, you keep throwing them, absolutely,” Burnett said ...
Over the past couple of days Jorge Posada, Nick Johnson, Francisco Cervelli, Damaso Marte, and Alfredo Aceves have all had to deal with minor injuries that left them in question of making the opening day roster.
They must be healthy enough, because the Yankees have set their opening day roster and they are all a part of it. However, whether they’ll each play on opening day is still in question.
Marcus Thames, ...
Just two days until opening day and the Yankees roster is just about set, which means that the Scranton Yankees roster is nearly close to finished as well. Donnie Collins of the Scranton Times-Tribune has a pretty good rundown on what we should expect in the Electric City.
I feel like his Scranton roster is filled more than ever with players who might make it to the Bronx in some form ...
Damaso Marte’s Sore Shoulder and What it Could Mean
Posted: 2nd April 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
Damaso Marte is experiencing discomfort in his pitching shoulder and has been scratched from today’s scheduled relief appearance according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News.
Marte said that it is supposedly not as bad as the shoulder injury he dealt with a year ago in spring training that caused him to have a terrible season—until the postseason that is. He also said he doesn’t expect that this will cause him ...
Yankee Notes: No Catchers, Plans for Hughes, and Granderson
Posted: 1st April 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
The Yankees have been pretty lucky as far as injuries are concerned in that nothing major has happened, but that doesn’t mean that a few of the players haven’t been banged up quite a bit.
Jorge Posada is out today after waking up with a stiff neck. No word yet if he’ll be back tomorrow.
Francisco Cervelli is also out and could even start the season on the DL after ...

Chad Gaudin Free to Regrow Facial Hair with A’s
Posted: 28th March 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Chad Gaudin, who was released by the Yankees last Thursday, has signed with the Oakland Athletics and will join the team’s bullpen.
Gaudin was set to make $2.95 million this season with the Yankees, but his contract was non-guaranteed. Since he didn’t pitch well this spring and has already dealt with fatigue issues, they decided it was best to cut him so they would ...
New York Yankees Blogosphere: Best of the Week
Posted: 28th March 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
The Yankees jumped out to a 7-0 lead in today’s game before rain ended things. Damaso Marte got the start (that’s right), and Mariano Rivera pitched the second inning. Andy Pettitte , who has only pitched in one official Spring Training game thanks to rain, had his outing cut short after pitching just one inning. He then went indoors and pitched a simulated game, stopping at 100 pitches.
So besides the ...
