Hey BHD readers, I’ll be conducting a live blog here at Broadway Hockey Daily during tonight’s Rangers-Islanders contest at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., and that’s when we’ll get underway here, as well. It’s a pivotal contest for the Rangers, as they continue to battle for a playoff spot, all while also hoping they can slip down the standings should they fail to make the ...

Prospect Update: ’09 2nd Round Pick Werek Out With Torn ACL

Posted: 29th March 2010 by Broadway Hockey Daily in NHL
Selected by the Rangers in the second round (47th pick) of last year’s draft, Ethan Werek has done nothing but impress this season. With 30 goals and 63 points in 57 games, the 18-year old forward has been one of the few bright spots on a forgettable Kingston Frontenacs team. Unfortunately for both Werek and his team, the Ontario native’s season may have come to an end at the worst ...

First, out of the teams the Rangers are chasing only the Flyers were in action and they beat the Devils which is bad news for the Blueshirts. Philly now has 82 points, six more than the Rangers, but the Rangers now have a game ...

John Tortorella, This is Exactly What I was Talking About

Posted: 28th March 2010 by Broadway Hockey Daily in NHL
Yesterday I had a little rant about Rangers' head coach John Tortorella and the lack of accountability within the Rangers' organization. So when the Rangers lost in overtime for the seventh time this season, their OT record is now 1-7, it would only be natural to expect reporters to ask about the problem. Tortorella’s response : “I’m not going to explain it to you.” That’s exactly what I was talking about. The ...

Not only did the Rangers suffer a frustrating loss last night in Toronto, but one of their players who has actually been playing well lately, Sean Avery, injured his knee during a collision while chasing the puck going into the end boards. He is questionable for Tuesday’s game in Long Island. Here’s more from Larry Brooks of the NY Post : But it came to an end at 12:45 of the second ...

Last night’s loss to the Maple Leafs didn’t eliminate the Rangers from playoff contention, but it has made their path there a bit harder. Here are the standings following last night’s 3-2 overtime loss: 7. Philadelphia – 80 points – 37 wins – 7 games remaining 8. Boston – 80 points – 34 wins – 8 games remaining 9. Posted: 27th March 2010 by Broadway Hockey Daily in NHL
One of the brightest stars during the Olympic tournament in Vancouver last month was Norway’s Mats Zuccarello Aasen. At 5′7″ and 160 lbs., the diminutive winger was one of the Norwegian team’s biggest offensive weapons, using his speed and soft hands to deke his way around some of the best hockey players in the world. Well, recent reports out of Sweden (where the Norwegian plays professionally for Modo of the Swedish ...
