New York Rangers Bad News: Glen Sather Will Not Step Down

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Rangers president and general manager Glen Sather is not expected to step down, retire, or get fired after a disappointing season in which the Rangers had no offensive spark and could have been one of the worst teams in the NHL had it not been for a certain goalie.

Unconfirmed Rumor: Jaromir Jagr Resigns with Omsk

The Russian website Sport-Planet.ru is reporting that former Ranger Jaromir Jagr has resigned with Avangard Omsk of the KHL on a two-year contract. However, when Dmitry Chesnokov at Puck Daddy tried to confirm this report he was unsuccessful.

A year ago, everyone thought Bobby Sanguinetti was the Rangers’ top defensive prospect, but as it turns out, the 19-year-old Michael Del Zotto leap-frogged him onto the roster and put together one impressive season. It still amazes me that Brandon Prust turned out to be a bigger contributor to the Rangers over Olli Jokinen, who came over in the same mid-season trade. Even though it was simply a salary dump to get rid of Ales Kotalik, the Rangers have gotten themselves a piece that is expected to contribute to the team’s future.

Rangers Prospect McDonagh Becomes Sole Captain at UW

According to a press release by the University of Wisconsin Badgers, Rangers defensive prospect, Ryan McDonagh , who served as on of three tri-captains this season, will return to the Badgers next year as the team’s sole captain.
