Expect More Great Play From David Lee

Posted: 11th July 2010 by Brett Roberts in NBA
David Lee showed in the 09-10 season that he is a legitimate All-star after averaging a gaudy 20.3 points and 11.7 rebounds.  In 08-09 he also averaged 11.7 rebounds, placing him at the top of the league in both seasons (third in both seasons).   Some experts were guilty of saying that Lee could not produce elsewhere, and that he was a product of D'Antoni's system.  We may never find out, ...

I No Longer Blame King James

Posted: 10th July 2010 by Brett Roberts in NBA
I've changed a lot of my views regarding this move. I've tried to look at it from LeBron's viewpoint, and when you do that, it seems a lot less ridiculous. Who wouldn't want to play with their friends, especially when their friends happen to be basketball studs? Who wouldn't want to win five championships without having to bear the full load? Who wouldn't want to...play with Dwyane Wade? You know ...

Look, Phil Jackson: You’ve Done Enough

Posted: 27th June 2010 by Brett Roberts in NBA
Phil Jackson, you have already established yourself as one of the two best coaches ever, and already has won more championships than anyone else, including Auerbach, with 11 total championships.  Not only that, but you also won two more as a player.  It's easy to walk out now, on top, than continue to struggle on in your health as you age and work yourself to death when you should be ...

Can the Orlando Magic Win a Championship Without Major Changes?

Posted: 27th June 2010 by Brett Roberts in NBA
Can the Magic win a title without making any major moves? Could the Magic could return to the Finals next year, and possibly beat the Lakers? I believe they could. The logic behind this lies in a few major facts: Boston will not be the same next year; either they'll be a year older, or they are going to blow it up and start rebuilding around Rondo and Perkins.  Cleveland, ...

The 2009-10 Fantasy Basketball All-Disappointment Team

Posted: 7th April 2010 by Brett Roberts in NBA
This slideshow will highlight the biggest disappointment fantasy-wise at each position. All five players are veterans whose past contributions seemed to set them up for a favorable season, but all five fell significantly short of what was expected from them. Some of them found themselves losing minutes to capable backups, or just losing their starting role altogether. However, as you will see, each of these five players ...

Orlando Magic Season “Officially” Begins Tonight

Posted: 16th November 2009 by Brett Roberts in NBA
No one expected the Magic to win its first 10 games. The loss of star forward Rashard Lewis for those games to suspension for using an illegal substance in his energy drink smoothies was sure to cost the Magic at least a few victories.á Until replacement starter Ryan Anderson went down, the Magic were rolling along, but without his three-point shooting stretching the floor much the same way Lewis does, Orlando ...
The Magic made serious waves the night before the draft by trading Courtney Lee, Tony Battie, and their interim point guard, Rafer Alston, for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson. Naturally, most of the hoopla revolved around Carter, a perennial All-star and 20-plus ppg scorer. In Carter, the Magic hope they have upgraded from Hedo Turkoglu. Little fuss was made over Ryan Anderson, but from the preseason games, it has become clear ...

This article takes a look at guys that specialize in a stat and can provide your team with a boost in a category. Most of these guys are only viable contributors in one category and can be had late in drafts, often in the last round. People overlook the value of players like these who can keep you competitive in a certain category without having to make a ...
