Bill Callahan Comes Full Circle, Raiders Still Stuck In First Gear
Posted: 26th October 2009 by Al's Wingman in NFL
Unless you count the Norv Turner era as respectable, the last, best hope the Raiders had at success was when Bill Callahan was Head Coach.á I know that is a tough pill for many Raider fans to swallow but show me a better offensive line coach the Raiders have had since.
á
Art Shell?á Ok, maybe 20 years ago but his hire was a pretty bad thud when he signed on for ...
Jawgate Fallout: Al Davis Again Fails To Bar the Media
Posted: 25th October 2009 by Al's Wingman in NFL
Hanging out at Raider fan headquarters (RickyÆs in San Leandro, California ) I heard the first plausible explanation for Randy HansonÆs broken jaw.
á
First, as new details have come to light, we just have to laugh at the scenario in the Napa Marriot hotel room where Jawgate took place.
á
According to the D.A. account of events, Randy Hanson was leaning back in his chair with his feet on the table.
á
What kind of ...
The hilarity of the episode canÆt be understated.á It was a playoff game in January 1983. áThe New York Jets were on the road playing the Los Angeles Raiders.á A phone call came through to the Jets locker room at halftime.
á
Jets head coach Walt Michaels was handed the phone.á The voice on the other end claimed to be Jets owner Leon Hess.á What followed was a tirade, making Michaels feel ...
Let's hope the hard-fought win over the Eagles was not the shining moment for the Raiders this season.á
It's nice to be 2-4 instead of 1-5, but let's see this win for what it isùa great defensive effort and a barely acceptable offensive effort.á
The running game still has not emerged and one passing touchdown does not make up for the underwhelming output JaMarcus Russell and the receiving corps has accomplished to ...
How sad is it I cannot find any really cheap Raiders tickets online (except for 300 section nosebleed which SUCK regardless of what anyone hypes otherwise).á You would think people want to unload their tickets any way they can but people spent a few hundred (or a few thousand) bucks before the season in hopes this year would be different.á Well, those folks now are having buyer's remorse and want ...
Are The Giants Just Too Good For The Raiders To Handle?
Posted: 7th October 2009 by Al's Wingman in NFL
Most fans would seem to be writing off the Raiders season as yet another washout.á Though, a win for Oakland on Sunday against the mighty NY Giants would be a huge boost for the franchise and the sullen Raider Nation.
á
Is it possible?
á
We have to consider that it is possible if Eli Manning is out with injury as expected.á Eli is just too good a QB for the Raiders defense to ...
In just a short stretch, Tom Cable went from an NFL offensive line coach with a stellar reputation to being on the brink of another failed Raiders head coach.á He just might add a rap sheet to his resume as well.
á
Is the franchise cursed?á Probably, but it seems outlandish to blame the supernatural for all that haságone wrong since the Super Bowl XXXVII loss.
á
Fans are still left bewildered and demanding ...
ôHey you!á Yea, thatÆs right, IÆm talkinÆto you.á See, IÆm a tough guy.á I get to wear a Raiders shirt, back slap with Al Davis and crack the heads of all youse media types writinÆnasty tings æbout us heah in Raiders HQö
á
IsnÆt it funny how John Herrera has made a career of being a shoe shine boy for Al Davis?á
á
WhatÆs even more funny is the authority this guy ...

Tom Cable:á ôWellùô

John Herrera:á ôRandy slipped and fell into a cabinet.ö
