There's been a rumor circulating that Fred Gonzalez's job as Florida Marlins manager may come to an end, even though he signed a contract extension for two more years through the 2011 season.
Yet, apparently team owner Jeffrey Loria is upset that the team didn't make the playoffs. Which is interesting, because by all accounts the Marlins shouldn't have even been over .500, let alone be within six games of the National League East title, but they were.
The report of Gonzalez being fired is from Yahoo Sports in an article written by Steven Wine titled: "Marlins May Fire Manager Gonzalez Even after 87 Wins."
