Brian Cashman spoke with reporters yesterday and announced that the Yankees plan to activate center fielder Curtis Granderson from the disabled list come this Friday.
This is big news for the Yankees who have been inconsistent in the outfield, both offensively and defensively, since he went down.
Granderson last played on May 1st, and Marcus Thames has gotten most of the playing time in his absense. During that time he has hit .250 with a .396 OBP, and an un-Thames like .361 SLG. Thames also won a game with a walk-off homer only to lose the next game with a dropped fly ball late.
Granderson has been rehabbing with the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees, and in three games he has four hits in 11 at bats, for a .364 average.
