Monday was a rough day for second basemen. Especially second basemen in the American League East.
First it was the Baltimore Orioles’ Brian Roberts who went down for the count, and then it was the Toronto Blue Jays’ Aaron Hill.
The Blue Jays placed Hill on the 15-day DL because of tightness in his right hamstring. The move is retroactive to April 6th, so Hill could be back as soon as next week.
This move comes as a surprise to no one as Hill has not suited up since last week. That is what makes the Blue Jays' hot start even more impressive: They have done it without their All-Star second baseman.
Without Hill, the Blue Jays will look to John McDonald and Mike McCoy to fill the void at second. I think they both McStink offensively.
