Today the Detroit Lions announced when their organized team activities will take place this year.
Those dates will be May 11, May 13, May 18-20, May 25, May 27, June 1-3, June 8, June 10, and June 14.
Typically teams use their OTAs as a time to get rookies acclimated to life as professional athletes, as well as a time to begin installing their offensive and defensive playbooks.
It's the first time that all the player, rookies, and veterans will get to take the field together. Coaches usually do walk-throughs with the offense and defense, explaining what each player's job is for any given play. That is an integral part of rookie development and can determine just how quickly they see playing time.
