Philadelphia Flyers left wing Simon Gagne will miss a significant amount of time with two hernias in his right groin as general manager Paul Holmgren revealed on Tuesday. No decision has been made on whether he'll undergo surgery, but he'll be out an indefinitely.
Bucks County Times Flyers beat writer Wayne Fish reported prior to the official announcement that Gagne may require season ending hernia surgery, and that the Flyers were "contemplating" placing him on injured reserve.
The 29-year-old didn't see a lot of ice time in the third period of Sunday night's 4-1 loss to San Jose, and didn't practice on Monday. He had an ultrasound done, which showed the hernias.
