Three Toronto Blue Jays Named To American League All-Star Team
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Brad LeClair in MLB
On Sunday afternoon the Blue Jays finally got a bit of good news after a few weeks of utter despair.
Outfielders Vernon Wells and Jose Bautista were odds on favorites to make the American League All-Star team and did so, but to everyone's surprise, catcher John Buck was also named to the team as a replacement for injured Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez. This is Buck's first ever all-star selection.
All three ...
If Brian Burke "needs" to make the playoffs this year, then there is absolutely now way that he can go into the season with Tyler Bozak as his number one centre. No way in H-E double hockey sticks.
I am actually a huge Tyler Bozak fan. This kid has everything necessary to be an excellent No. 2 centre. He's quick, crafty, good on faceoffs, and has a great all around hockey sense. ...
Inside The Detroit Tigers’ All-Star Game Selections and Snubs
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Thomas Franz in MLB
Miguel Cabrera and Jose Valverde will represent the Detroit Tigers in the 2010 Midsummer Classic.
Cabrera narrowly lost out to for the starting position at first base to Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins. Through Saturday night's game against the Mariners, Cabrera had a .338 batting average, 20 HR and 68 RBIs.
Cabrera is most likely the last remaining hitter with a chance at the American League triple crown this season. He ...
NBA Free Agents: LeBron James Can Be Successful With Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Rachel Marcus in NBA
Who says that LeBron James teaming up with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade will be a failure?
There have been rumors of a "superteam" involving these three guys all playing together. And though it is unlikely to happen, if it were to occur, let's not automatically think of the 2004 USA Olympic Basketball team.
Rather, consider the 2008 Boston Celtics.
In 2007, the Celtics were coming off of a disastrous season.
So what did ...
MLB All-Star Game 2010: Cincinnati Reds’ Joey Votto Deserves Final Spot For NL
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Will Frasure in MLB
Three Reds were named to the All-Star Game Sunday night.
It was a proud moment for a team that isn't used to having an abundance of all-stars, but the name that was left off made it bittersweet.
Reds' first baseman Joey Votto was not on the final National League roster, despite being in the top five in the NL in all three major statistical categories, with a .312 average, 19 ...

Posted: 4th July 2010 by Steven Merriam in MLB
The 2010 MLB season has been quite a season for rookies may it be Stephen Strasburg, Jason Heyward or Austin Jackson.
This season has brought us the debuts of some of baseball's most touted prospects and has shown us waht the future of baseball may be.
The most touted prospect of all, Strasburg, debuted about a month ago against the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Strasburg phenomenon has struck the country.
There ...
NHL Free Agents 2010: Top 13 Free Agents Still Available After July 3rd
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Kaelan Lupton in NHL
It’s been three days since the NHL began free agency, and most of the better players got picked up pretty quickly. This years free agency pool was so shallow, I feel as though there should have been a “No Diving” sign somewhere. Now, with the likes of Matthew Lombardi, Sergei Gonchar, Paul Martin, Colby Armstrong and more already off the market, there is a much thinner crowd to choose from.
This ...
In perhaps what has been the most active offseason for the Detroit Lions, one has to wonder if Martin Mayhew and Company are actually building the team to get to the playoffs in 2010.
Before anyone calls me crazy, I'm not recanting my hope they go 8-8. I still agree with most Lions fans that a six or seven win season seems more realistic. The schedule is fairly brutal. Depending on ...
Six Points: Surviving Cleveland Browns Silly Season
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Christopher Maher in NFL
NASCAR fans call the period between Homestead and Daytona “silly season.”
A whole lot of nothing happens and only rule changes, racing teams, and rumors are discussed.
NFL fans are now in that parallel universe, where the only news is no news.
Commentators either say a whole lot of nothing or go into hibernation.
Someone woke Six Points up from the long slumber. It’s now time to add to the vast expanse of nothingness ...
