NBA Free Agency: Joe Johnson Accepts Atlanta’s Offer, Hawks Will Regret Move
Posted: 4th July 2010 by John Boller in NBA
$119 million is $119 million.
This was the best offer Joe Johnson could get from any NBA team, and he will now have the chance to try and finish what he and the Hawks have been building in Atlanta.
But what does accepting the offer say about Johnson?
Simply put, it says that Johnson just really isn’t worth it.
Johnson was supposed to wait and see what the other free agents (LeBron, Wade, Stoudemire, and ...
National League’s All-Star Chances Are Already Dimming Thanks to Voters
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Andrew Brining in MLB
Unless you're new to Major League Baseball, you know the American League has been unbeatable against the National League in the All-Star Game for the last 13 years.
Excluding the 2002 contest that ended in a tie and featured the infamous Bud Selig shrug, the Junior Circuit has won every game since being shutout in 1996.
Obviously, a 12-game winning streak that spans over a decade has a litany of explanations. For ...

For years now we have been advocating the replacement of Jorge Posada at catcher. Until today, our sole point of contention has been Posada's defense, which ranges anywhere from bad to ridiculous depending on the day. Today, however, brought to light an entirely new reason to no longer risk playing ...
By Larry Barnes | Yankees 'n More and The Yankees Daily-Press Though he certainly wasn't alone on the list of Yankees employees who screwed up big time during Sunday afternoon's 7-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, third-base coach Rob Thomson was on top of the mountain. For AT LEAST the fourth time this season, Thomson made the decision to send a runner to the ...
Their Mistake: Faulty MLB All-Star Rosters Results From Players’ Poor Choices
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Nathaniel Ballance in MLB
First off, let me preface the rest of this post by saying that I am vehemently opposed to requiring that each team have a representative in the MLB All-Star game. Especially if MLB insists on using the All-Star game to determine home-field advantage for the World Series, watering down each team for some bogus “everyone’s a winner” type of reason is insane.
But since I am hamstringed by this rule, I’ll work ...
"I'm licking my chops," Freeney said. "All these rookies coming out? They don't know anything. I can't wait."
"I couldn't wait to hit Mark Sanchez," he said. "And I can't wait to hit Tim Tebow even more."
In order to keep up with and take advantage of the green horned lads, while trying to break away from allowing the hands of time have their way with him, Freeney, who turned 30 this year, ...
Minnesota Vikings Get Steal With Big Wide Receiver Marko Mitchell
Posted: 4th July 2010 by M Holly in NFL
Last Monday, the Super Bowl contending Minnesota Vikings, lacking depth at wide receiver, quietly improved the team even more by claiming an obscure free agent, to many in the media and most fans, off waivers.
Marko Mitchell excelled at flanker at the University of Nevada-Reno. He caught 51 balls for 1,129 yards (21.3 average) and eight TDs in 2007, and 61 balls for 1,141 yards (18.7 average) and 10 TDs in ...

Can Green Bay Have Over Three 1,000-Yard Receivers Next Season?
Posted: 4th July 2010 by Chad Lundberg in NFL
Only five teams in NFL history have accomplished having three receivers pulling off 1,000 yards in a single season.
The most recent have been the 2004 Colts and the 2008 Cardinals. And the Green Bay Packers have a chance to be the sixth.
The player that is locked to have 1,000+ yards next season is Greg Jennings. Jennings had the third best yard average among 1,000 yard receivers last season, as I ...

The Mets will send two players to the All-Star Game, however neither of them are named Mike Pelfrey or R.A. Dickey.
David Wright and Jose Reyes will represent New York in Anaheim. Wright is hitting .313, with 14 homers and 64 runs batted in. Reyes is dealing with an oblique strain right now, and it is unknown if he will be able to play. Hs return date keeps getting pushed back.
Reyes is hitting .277, with six ...
