Oakland Raiders History: Top 10 Wide Receivers

Posted: 28th June 2010 by David Wilson in NFL
From the team that brought us the "vertical game," here is a list of the top 10 wide receivers in Oakland Raiders history. I have no doubt that any list of the top 10 for the Raiders will provoke a huge debate amongst the fanbase. But that's a good thing, right? So here are top 10 as I see them, and it can only be a personal view. Whilst statistics ...

Fantasy Baseball Scouting Report: Kris Medlen

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Eric Stashin in MLB
While the Braves have yet to decide who will be removed from the rotation to make room for Jair Jurrjens, Kris Medlen shouldn’t be on the chopping block given the way he’s produced.  All you have to do is look at his numbers over his first 22 appearances (nine starts) for proof: 5 Wins 74.1 Innings 3.15 ERA 1.13 WHIP 54 Strikeouts (6.5 K/9) 13 Walks (1.6 BB/9) .288 BABIP As a ...

Senators Waive Jonathan Cheechoo

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Warren Twocock in NHL
In a move that may mark the end of his NHL career, the Ottawa Senators have waived forward Jonathan Cheechoo. After clearing waivers, Cheechoo can then have the remaining $3.5 million of his contract bought out and will be free to sign anywhere as a free agent. It's hard to believe that just four years ago, Cheechoo was coming off a season in which he lead the NHL in goal ...

More On Steve Smith’s Broken Arm

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Michael McNeil in NFL
I briefly mentioned Steve Smith's broken arm last week when I was starting things up here at the blog again, so I figured I would get a little more in depth on the subject this morning with the return of the Monday Morning Rehab. Just so you know, this feature will run every Monday from now until ... well ... our next hiatus, I guess. Back on ...
Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry announced on Monday that pitcher Carlos Zambrano was placed on MLB's restricted list, and will not rejoin the team until the All-Star break is over. According to Hendry, the negotiations were very amicable, with both Zambrano's agent Barry Praver and Hendry working with the player's union to come to a resolution without rancor. When Zambrano does return, Hendry indicated that it will be up to ...

Detroit Red Wings 2010 Free Agency To Do List

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Matt Hutter in NHL
As the 2010 NHL Entry Draft has now come and gone, and with absolutely nothing resembling a major trade going down during the two-day event (the second of which resembled something a tad more lively than a narcolepsy convention), the countdown to free-agency (July 1) is now made all the more exciting. Major names like Marty Turco, Evgeni Nabokov and Ilya Kovalchuk remain unsigned and there are a slew of ...

Why Kobe Bryant Still Needs Phil Jackson

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Raj Antoine in NBA
In his self-titled IMAX film, Michael Jordan spoke of how Phil Jackson had helped not only his understanding of the game but his understanding of life. The two were not mutually exclusive, however. Jordan credited Phil’s ability to apply his Zen philosophy to the game of basketball with helping him become a master of the moment and, ultimately, a master of the game. As Phil himself explained, “Michael so embraced this, ...

Brandon Morrow & Jhoulys Chacin are strikeout machines. R.A. Dickey's 6th straight. Is Jamie Moyer really father-time in disguise? Can they really keep it up for another week? Check out who's a Must or a Bust.Begin Slideshow
Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge came to Boston as a package deal. Both of their contracts end at the same time and between the two they have unfinished business to attend too. Together, they brought the Celtics back to relevance. Together, they should help bridge the crack in the foundation as Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen enter the down side of their career. Their task is simple: find a reasonable ...

2010 NHL Draft Grades: New York Islanders Rounds Two Through Seven

Posted: 28th June 2010 by Michael Schuerlein in NHL
Earlier this weekend, I wrote about the way the Islanders had fared after day one of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles. Today, I present to you their final grade after rounds two through seven. As we already know, the Islanders selected Nino Niederreiter with their fifth overall selection in the first round, and would go on to trade both of their second round selections (35th and 58th) ...
