San Jose Sharks Complete Busy Week Re-signing Free Agents
Posted: 28th June 2010 by MJ Kasprzak in NHL
From Thursday through Saturday of last week, the San Jose Sharks took major steps toward shaping their future. First of all, there was the NHL Draft; for a look at that, see Shark-Infested Blogger .
But there was significant free-agent news, as well. (For a look at play-by-play announcer Randy Hahn's insights on that topic, see my interview with him.) Unrestricted free agents Patrick Marleau, ...
League of Dynasties: Why 2010 NBA Free Agency Can’t Be Overstated
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Armen Dacity in NBA
Is the upcoming NBA free agency period getting too much attention?
Not at all.
The NBA is a unique league. Unlike other major sports leagues, the NBA is dominated by “dynasty” teams built on the backs of a select few superstar players.
Here’s a stat that aptly illustrates this point: The last 25 NBA Championships were won by a total of seven teams. That’s right, seven.
Of those seven teams, six won multiple titles ...
The dose makes the poison.
—Paracelsus, mad at his bad fantasy football draft.
Bad draft day picks can poison your fantasy football team quicker than signing Albert Haynesworth to a guaranteed contract.
Don't be the dim Danny Snyder of your league.
Don't draft the fading stars, the fat fellows, anyone with a feral female friend, or a longer criminal record than your average Hollywood child star or Cincinnati Bengal.
Don't draft anyone ...
NBA Free Agent Rumors: Potential Additions for Minnesota Timberwolves
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Kyle Luke in NBA
There's really nowhere to go but up after you finish 15-67.
At least that's what Minnesota Timberwolves fans have been telling themselves.
In addition to that, it doesn't look as if the T-Wolves will be in the running to offer any sort of enticing options to any big name free agents this offseason.
To be perfectly honest they don't have a whole lot to offer.
They went 15-67 last year.
They play in Minnesota.

New York Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes: A Give-and-Take Relationship
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Greg Caggiano in NHL
This may seem like an odd and random topic to start writing about, but given the fact that the New York Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes have made several trades with each other since the lockout, I thought it's appropriate since there are sure to be transactions coming up this week that may or may not involve the two parties dealing with each other.
One of these ...
NBA Trade Rumors: Potential Superstar Additions to Houston Rockets
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Ros Dumlao in NBA
When it comes to Chris Bosh, don’t count the Houston Rockets out just yet.
Sure, the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat seem like viable destinations for Bosh, but the Rockets can still make a deal work to land him.
At the same time, with key players in their roster set to be free agents once July 1 strikes, the Rockets will be looking to fill in some missing pieces.
The Rockets have ...

Oakland Raiders: Taking a Look at the Wide Receiver Competition
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Ezra Ruiz in NFL
The Oakland Raiders had the worst wide receiver corps in the NFL.
Both starting rookies, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy had a case of the dropsies. Chaz Schilens, the most polished wide receiver on the roster, was out for the majority of the season.
This year, Oakland's group looks young, promising, and most importantly healthy.
There should be a big competition at the wide receiver position, but the question is, who starts?
The three ...

Personally witnessing Cliff Lee manhandle the New York Yankees in two different uniforms, at both Yankee Stadiums, was far from fun.
All I can say is Cliff Lee is that good.
Our first time in 2008 was like a blind date, as Lee wore a Cleveland Indian uniform back then. I was simply going to see a regular season game and watched the Yankees make contact with the ...
